Yeah, but NeoOffice is perfectly capable of reading and writing Microsoft Word documents so you shouldn't have a problem. In some cases it reads word documents better than MS Word itself.

So at least try it. It's free after all. You'll feel better if it works and you didn't waste $100 on a Microsoft product too. :p
Science alone of all the subjects contains within itself the lesson of the danger of belief in the infallibility of the greatest teachers in the preceding generation . . .Learn from science that you must doubt the experts. As a matter of fact, I can also define science another way: Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts. - Richard Feynman

CP may not have been sure, but I am: Wrong. Apple's Cinema series is like a weak iPod: yeah, they may be beautiful... on the outside. Yeah, they may be easy to use... but their capabilities are retarded compared to most other competitors.

Apple Cinema displays are equal or worse than their competitors, all across the board.

Ergonomically?

Size? equal.

Asthetic design? Beauty is in the eyes and all that, but generally . Of course, I don't spend my computing hours looking at the bezel of my screen.

Teaser shot!

This is from awhile back, when the built-in supply for my case was too crappy to power my 6600GT.

Edit: Er, goto this URL...100 kb is better than 800 kb.

I saw how much damage my sister's ex did with my nunchaku (he took out a chandeller in our old house). I can't even guess what he could have done with a flail.

And for the first time in recorded history; a picture of my room.

That chair of yours looks a bit uncomfortable. Don't spend much time on the computers? :p

It is suprisingly good chair, considering that it is probaly about 30 years old. I have a newer chair too, but that plastic crap is breaking down even from slight use.

I'm a student. It's more accurate to say that my credit card company is too friendly.

I'm sure that'll last until I have no hope of paying it off... but working damn near full time this term solves that problem.

What is it with people having lots of computers?

Anyway, an updated one for me: Same kit, but in student digs and a brand new mess. :)

This desk is even worse than my little one at home - it's not a proper desk, but a bit of worktop attached to the wall. So there's no space at the back for cables and wires etc, meaning they all trail down the front and side and get in the way. :doubt:
Any fool can pull a trigger...

Mine looks now pretty much as WMCoolman's did in his picture, except I have a deskfan pointing into the side to keep, curiously enough, my 6600 cool ;)

Edit : Pyro, do you think it'd be noticed if you drilled a hole behind the monitor? ;)

Hehe - I've got the same Logitech speakers. :)

Flipside: Most likely - the hole would have to be big enough to fit half a dozen cables, plus the volume control for the speakers, plus the monitor plug. Don't think that'd go down too well with the housekeepers. ;) I'd just put the tower on the desk and tape 'em all to the wall, but it's too big... :nervous:

Sandwich: Yours work ok? The volume pot's playing up on mine - at reasonable levels (ie when it's not loud enough to shatter your eardrums), one or the other of the channels cuts out, or is crackly. Most annoying, but I don't want to rip the control apart to try and fix it - I can't afford new ones at the moment....
Any fool can pull a trigger...

My volume control is touchy as well, but in a different fashion. The volume range it controls is sort of like 0, 10-100 (i.e. there's a sudden drop-off to silence at lower levels). Additionally, there's a constant hiss in the speakers (which may be due to them being 110v running on 220v via a transformer). I'm planning to upgrade them soon. ;)

BTW, for a friend's bachelor party, we got him the Logitech X-530. We tried them out, and they blow our speakers out of the water. And for only $80 retail, they're quite a good investment if you're not looking to wake up the neighbor's dead dog with the Z-5500's. :p
