Meh... looks like it's gonna be an action-focused slugfest, which keeps it close to the game, but will probably fail as a movie.
IMHO, an interesting approach to a DOOM3 adaption would be to keep the whole movie in 1st persion view....think about it.
The audience only gets what the protagonist sees and hears. You'd hear your heart pumping and the heavy breathing when running away in panic from some hellish nightmare, of which you only saw a glimpse when it leaped out of the shadows.
We'd only see the protagonists face in the bathroom mirror (including the the vision of his zombie-self).
It would be hard to keep it interesting for 90 minutes, and you'd need:
a) a very good director
b) an excellent soundtrack, together with all the creepy noises from hell in true dolby surround (especially the mad laughter)
c) concentrate on suspense, not action (think "Alien"), let the viewer imgaine a lot the horrible things that might be lurking in dark corners, instead of showing everything
d) include the trip to hell
e) to only watch it alone in a dark room (like all good horror movies)
Thinking about it, this might work best as a short movie for a 3D cinema, including an anti-happy end where you get shred to pieces....
