Selective voice acting.
[color=66ff00]I don't know about the rest of you but I really only rely on voice acting in missions, the briefings are all very nice but you can read them at your leisure and break down the facts.

I was wondering if those of you creating voice acting packs for your campaigns were doing everything or just the in-mission strings?

As for the rest of you who play the campaigns, would you rather have everything acted or just the in mission stuff? Do you think it would effect immersion and would it matter if it made releases more expedient?

In-mission is sufficient, briefings are an added bonus.

Indeed. I liked the way Destiny of Peace did the voice-acting, all ingame where the player wouldn't have time to read through the messages. The player can take as long as he wants reading Command Briefs and Briefings, so it's not necessary.
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

We Germans, have only In-Mission Voice in FS1 Campaign and Command Briefings and In-Mission in FS2 Campaign... so In-Mission is standart ;)
Shivan here, Shivan there, Shivan everywhere.

Considering that most of my lines for Derelict went toward briefings and debriefings, I'm choosing the former option.  Even if I finish reading a briefing screen long before the voiceover is finished, I still like listening to it.  In my opinion, taking out voiceacting for briefings would seriously hurt immersion and reinforce the fact that you're just playing a game.

I don't need a campaign to have voice acting for me to enjoy it, but if you're going to do voice - acting, you might as well do it all the way.

Everything or nothing.  No question in my mind.  Doing it separately seriously cripples the immersion factor.

And if you're going to voice act part of it, you may as well do things properly and do the whole thing.  If you've already committed to doing the in-mission stuff, it's only a small amount of extra work to do the briefings.

If it comes down to a choice between in-mission or no, I say in-mission.

But I don't really think you shouldn't try to shoot for no voice acting in briefings.

[color=66ff00]The thing that struck me was that it was entirely viable (ignoring immersion factor) to just voice act the missions then later return to voice acting the rest if the need was there.

Is it a question of speed over quality? I guess about half of you think so. :)

Depends on how much longer it'll take the specific campaign to get the briefings voiceacted. Rather just have in-mission than no campaign.

I think i'll go with what WMCoolmon said. To me, vioce acting is a vital point to rank a campaign abouve average. I hat to go to the radio screen every time after not getting the all important message just because I was to busy saving someones ass.

@Deepstar: That's why I switched to the english version long ago :D

btw. is there any list of campaign that actially have (in-mission) voice acting? i only know that BWO is going to have it. (at least I hope so)

I find myself skipping the dialogue after the first couple of times anyhow.

In-mission voices are more important, but having it everywhere is preferable for consistency. However, I don't think voice acting is that important in the first place. It's great to have it of course, but I can read fast enough as long as the messages are correctly spaced out and missions should avoid having a lot of dialogue during intense combat anyway (if I'm so occupied that I can't read the text, I'm probably not going to be paying attention to the speech either). And of course, all voices need to be done well; bad voice acting ruins the immersion much more than no voices at all.
