I'm not sure whether this is a bug or not...and Mantis doesn't appear to work for me.
Well that's great. Other than that, I haven't spotted anything out of the ordinary. Turnsky, what's wrong with the ingame Lucifer? I haven't tried to make up my own mission and use this destroyer in the scenerio, but this is what I'm seeing in the tech room....

I hate being the one to point out these things because I know a lot of hard work was put into making this game better for everyone, so I made sure that this was it. It seems as if nothing has been done to the Pegasus stealth spacecraft....

I could be wrong, but it looks the same as the retail version. Well, that's all from me, I'm done pointing out these little things. I don't want to annoy anyone or offend anyone for pointing out files that have been left behind, especially if it is no one's fault. I just wanted to make sure that everyone else was aware, if not already, about these situations, allowing them to be fixed for future Media VP updates. Thanks guys.

Not everything has been high-polyfied yet. But if you look at the glowing animation on the pegasus and compare that with the static version in retail I'll be surprised if you can't see a difference between the two.

As for pointing out missing files go right ahead and keep on doing it. It's actually very useful to do so.

Take a look at the Perseus next. Mine is missing the cockpit glass and I want to see if yours is too.

Hmm ... I downloaded the media_vp's 3 weeks ago, and for me the

- Cain/Lilith are fine
- Aeshma is gray
- Pegasus&Boanerges have no glowmap nor shinemap

Karajorma, I looked at the Perseus and yes, it is missing the cockpit glass. And after looking at the Boanerges, fishguts is correct as well. But I also found out that when I do those single player missions massive battle 1 and 2, not every single Terran and Vasudan fighter/bomber have the new afterburner effects. To be exact, the only four ships that have this feature during the single player mission are the Ares, Erinyes, Myrmidon, and the Zeus. What's even worse is that the Herc has no afterburner at all. Yet, when I play in the main FS2 campaign, most of the ships get their burners back.... I have not progressed far enough to view all of the Terran and Vasudan fighters and bombers, but the Ursa has no effects. Is anyone else in the same situation?

those are techroom shots, they're fine, usually.

now this is from BR's brilliant Derelect re-release (kudos to the guys who made the original) and there you can see ze problem.

Col. Fishguts:  Boanerges has no glowmap because nothing on it glows.  That's normal.  It should have shines though.  Peg's glow may be getting pruned in the static version, though the animated one should be in adveffects.  The same really goes for Lilith and Aeshma I think, though I'm not 100% sure of that.

m2258734a/Karajorma... (Though this may have more to do with WMC than anyone else) I've made dds versions of the glass map, since they were TGA before, sort of needlessly.  Plop these in data/maps and see if the Perseus glass gets better.

m2258734a, for the thruster bit, let me quote another post:

EDIT: Turnsky, you know the Lucifer is SUPPOSED to be like that, right? ;7 :nervous: ;)

Fixed it straight away. Odd thing was WMCoolmon told me that the texture was in the media.vp files. :wtf:

The game crashes?

Spoiler:
Because Blasie used the activate-glowmap SEXP to make that Lucifer "come alive" when it powers up.

EDIT: Realized there may be people out there who haven't played Derelict.

Yeah, the glass.zip worked great, and yes, using the adveffects_vp enables the red animated glow maps on both the Cain and the Aeshma. I have a general question about the system requirements for using these files for FSO, because the reason why I never noticed the red glow maps on the Cain or the Aeshma was because adveffects_vp caused major lagging on the system, and I chose not to use it. I am using my friend's computer... I believe this CPU has 512 MB of RAM, 2.4 GHz pentium 4 processor, and a Radeon 9600 graphics card. What can I do to improve the performance without sacrificing the quality of the graphics?

Glad the glass works, it's more memory efficient anyway so hopefully it'll get replaced in the VP.

As for the glows, it's a simple matter of WMC not realizing he didn't have the static glows in there (because I assume he's running with the animated ones), not that they don't exist.  It just takes the friendly reminder to get them in the next version :)

I went to the website that has the description of the bug #559, and I was wondering what exactly am I supposed to do to resolve the thruster issue? I see the files, but I'm not quite sure what to do.

Umm... I don't know... has anyone ever considered remaking a visual effect for the supernova that occurs at the very last mission? Just curious. Thanks guys.

If the description of the problem matches, try a newer build.  This wasn't fixed in 3.6.7.

Speaking of the glowmaps, there seems to be something funny with the Arcadia's install01-02 glowmap texture. It looks very washed out in the game, as if the contrast was all messed up. Not sure what's up with that.
