Uhm, I'm getting some weird graphics issues here, guys.

I don't mean crash graphics.  No, that would be normal, run of the mill stuff.

I mean things like my loading icons being offset from the cursor (a lot) the lead indicator and distance numbers on my HUD being way behind the enemy fighter, and other stuff.  This happens in both OpenGL and DirectX drivers, by the way.  Is there any way to get around this?

Make sure you're not using a non-standard resolution.

So far works great, no major issues. 85.5 FPS steady, drops to 24.5 when on top of explosions & particles, though seems intermittent. Will occasionally CTD when going through the ship listings in the tech room.

strange, specular works in opengl, but not in Dx8, ahwell.. nice job, need more ram on my box now, it's obvious that 256 ain't gonna cut it anymore

You know that the game is LIMITED at 120 FPS, so its technically impossible to go beyond that limit, right?

Actually, I'm 1024 x 768, does that count?

1024x768 is standard. I'm running that resolution too. All I get is the slight targetting box misalignment (*hint hint mantis*) but nothing that bad as you seem to experience.

Yes, but I'm sure if it was allowed to my comp would happily pull more.

Well, i'm running at 85 Hz, so 85 FPS is the limit for me

How can I activate the time-compression ? Is it still necessary to go
in the cheat-mode ? I never did it, just read it somewhere. But now
I really need it.

Is it possible to get the time-compression activated using a
FRED-Script ?

The new launcher has less possible flags to select. Is there a
explanation for everything still left out here ?

Normal time compression (to something faster then 1x) is activated by shift + > to go faster, and shift + < to go slower (IIRC, could be another key, check the options screen). Advanced compression, something slower then 1x is activated by activating cheat mode, and then using the normal keys.

The problem I'm having is that www.freespace2.com has gone down, and as far as I Can find, there are no mirrors of the patch.  I've just redone my system and I can't get the files at all...

As a special treat for you all, we're pleased to announce the first incarnation of the SCP Install Program. This should take you through the steps to setting up the registry, installing the program and the media VPs, and generally making things much easier for the unwashed masses.  Everybody thank Fractux for all his hard work putting this together.
