I'm not a fan of this technology, BTW.

As it seems like a dead-end to me, insofar as solid colour projections go.

Re: 3D Images Developed In Air
Just wait until the porn industry gets their hands on it, then you'll see the tech level skyrocket.
Considering that they are responsible for the appearance of the video and DVD markets it's not hard to believe that they could push this very quickly.

Yea, and the millions of video movie rentals had nothing to do with it :doubt:. Everyone says it was porn, but honestly, the only thing that it really helped with was the internet, imo.

Why would it help with the internet and not DVDs?  I've porn not just credited with a key role in DVD but VHS adoption (over Betamax; VHS was cheaper to duplicate); during the early years of the latter the only video-selling places were porno shops.  Reportedly one third of US pay-per-view income is from porn ($2bn), and nearly 70% of in-room charges at the 5 largest hotel chains come from such pay-per-view (whether or not that all star a permatanned German named Hans come to fix a busty lonely housewives' dishwasher is unknown).  Don't forget that the 'millions of video rentals' sort of needed something to occur - shockingly enough, people had to buy videos and DVD players!  (remember, you can't quote the figures of the market to explain it appearing in the first place).

Porn drives early adoption of this sort of technology, because people want to watch smut in private and are willing to pay for it.  That's the leg-up for the market.

Video rentals only took off once people actually had the players in their houses and needed an excuse other than porn for owning them.

As for DVDs how many other things can you name that use the multi-angle feature? That thing has made for porn written all over it. How many people do you really think are going to buy replays of football matches on DVD just so they can watch them from another angle? That's just the excuse they used when rubbing their hands together over how much money they'd make from selling the players to people in trenchcoats.

"New technology is first used for science, then for porn, then everything else."

I can't remember where that quote comes from, but it's quite accurate.

What would happen if you put your hand in the image though?
Would it burn and catch on fire?
