If I'm bored, and in the mood to spend money, I'll drive aimlessly around the streets down town or around the outside of town, or around the entire town, or whatever. (meaning Im just driving around, not driving into oncoming traffic, or across people's lawns. Though, that WOULD be a killer way to cure boredom!) Sometimes I'll take my Pocket PC along and throw up WiFiFoFum and see just how many AP's I get, just to see who's out there and who's not. I once drove from the north end of my college town, to the south end and picked up over 80 AP's, and 50 or so were open systems. Wow. I'll also do lots of things with the computer(s) and just goof off. I do know when things get so stagnant, that all you do is go to work, come home, do the same things that night, go to sleep and get up to do it all over again can really wear you down. The best cure for this honestly is to get out there and be with people. Even if it's to go out to the bar (pub) and shoot some pool (billiards).
You could always go the cheap route and join a church and go to every single group activity.. the LDS church around here, oh boy, that's thier thing. A Dance every single friday, special singles group meetings usually in the middle of the week, and there's church every single sunday for the rest of your life. Of course, if you're using the church to meet people, God just might "smite" you, but hey, at least you'll feel better when the hammer comes down, eh?
Sorry, didnt mean to go all head-shrinky, but speaking from personal experience, being alone, doing the same exact things day to day, not really having something to look forward to can be real tough. Hey, everyone looks at themselves (unless they're stuck-up egotistical bastards, who usually are the worst to the extreme) and thinks negatively about themselves. To others, it's all about how you present yourself. Don't let the negative side get ya down. Just have fun and live in the moment when you have good times.
