What I do when bored:

* Read every forum and webcomic on my Daily list,
* Read whatever funny websites the IRC conversations of the past week have thrown up,
* Natter inanely on #crfh,
* Read the entire archives of a webcomic, then add it to Daily list,
* Play whatever computer game I can be bothered playing for the nth time (where n is an integer typically greater than twenty),
* If I've had dinner, go out to the pub and have at least four pints before going to a nightclub. Cycle home at 3am and hope there's a burger shop open,
* Begin planning a complex project (eg. new filesharing system, an OS that makes full use of the x86 CPU's features) then give up and go play another computer game.

Actually, that's what I do for the average weekend...

What do I do when I get bored? Well, that's easy, I mast- er... I mean, read a book. Yeah, a good "book" tides me over for about an hour or so...

When I am bored  (the 'normal' kind) I read, draw, play the piano, compose music, tidy my apartment, sleep, eat, watch lots of TV.  But when I'm bored in the weird kind, I take long walk (10 -15 miles) or call up the same person I know 30 times within the hour

Did you just graduate from college or something?  It's always hard living in the transition from one life style to another.  Kamikaze's suggestion is pretty good.

I graduated last year around this time...however...over the summer I worked my part time campus job until September at which point I got in with a department on campus so I'm still there a full year later.  I'm still at home.  Frankly I can't get motivated to do any of the "jobs" that I was always supposed to be doing...

Well, maybe you should work some where else.  Looking for a job could be fun too.  I guess almost all of you are taller I think but I think there's probably no one on this board could beat me, well unless your weight less than 105 pounds.

- Beer - I already drink the stuff... its an expensive proposition because I can't drink the cheap **** that they pass off for beer so its usually imported.  I really like Killkeny, Guiness, and Smithwicks.
- Girl Friend - Being trying to find that sort of gig for years...its not an easy proposition for "nice guy" (tm) to just up and find a girlfriend.  I've been or tried to be with enougn nut jobs to make me very leery of just the average girl.  She has to be special these days to even get my attention.  I think I'm jaded.
- Local sports team - That does sound appealing...I want to play soccer again...but no idea where I would find a team these days.
- Friends - Half have moved away...the other half are busy...its tough to get anyone together these days.  Its like pulling teeth.
- Addictive Games - I already do that...its called the IL-2 series...its crack for aviation nutjobs like myself
- Web Comics - Dilbert, Penny Arcade,....oh and not a web comic but a time waster nonetheless...Wired and SlashDot RSS feeds

Still bored....not feeling very fulfilled.  Can't figure it out.

Yeah that may be true.  I suffer from people having some really funny conceptions about me:
- confident
- extremely smart
- plenty of girls lined up
- good looking
- funny

The truth is that I'm:
- somewhat sometimes confident
- on occasion I say smart things
- no girls lined up
- not too ugly
- occasionally I say funny things

I've got my flaws and I think I know what most of them are. I hope I'm not too self deluded in what I and others think of myself but I'm constantly shocked when people get to know me better and make all these comments. I'd figure they'd be more shocked but nobody believes me when I say what is true

So you know...all those help guides on how to get down into dating...I figure I already do a good portion of them. I by no means have the whole delivery down but I'm not making moronic mistakes either.  I'm not a totally asocial boob that stumbles from one scenario to the next.  I was suggested to on this very forum that maybe I need to work on some other things in life before I can try and deal with this.  Car, house, long term employment (i'm working contracts right now).  The occasional relationship wouldn't be a bad thing...but none in sight or in the last few years really.  Its quite depressing....and who wouldn't be.

So I imagine these relationship things that everyone talk about probably takes up plenty of time. I have that time free.  But I'm valuing that time less and less.  When I'm not at work I try and do something that provides some level of entertainment...but to be honest I'm just distracting myself.  My latest web surfing hobby is comparing cars that I'd be interested in purchasing if I actually do end up with a job that isn't so close to home.  I really like that Mazda3.

i listen to black metal and contemplate the future pagan dominance of the world and my place in such. dispite being non religions in any way, its intresting the study them. contemplate the conhnections between roman imperialism and christianity. the falacy that civilization equates to progress echoes through my contemplations. fantisize over crazy chicks i meet online (the current one seems very promising). when im about town i study a number of chicks that dispite being cute, wouldnt provide much intelectual stimulations (and those that are capable stone themselves into mental monotony). contemplate death (of both myself and the human race as a whole). if im luckey i sometimes find myself in a creative mood but unless im that way on a day off its usually a wasted mood. work work and sleep eats up most my time even though i work less than 30 hours a week (while sleeping about 70 or 80). any time ive levt over comes to babysitting my schizo mother whilst my own sanity goes out the window. lately my house and my work have been undergoing some construction. i sometimes laugh at the stupidity of the contractors. hell i did some construction once and i never acted stupid thusly. albeit i watch them for entertainment. al in all this town is quite lax in brains. thusly ive decided that people arent worth my time. after all that ive not much time to be bored.

Ummm, I realise this might seem like a bit of a cop-out, but you need people. With very few exceptions, I suggest that no amount of hobbies will provide you any enjoyment unless you have someone to share them with. There's always us, of course.

As for me, I spend my free time playing guitar. It's addictive. I even spend my non-free time playing guitar - when I'm meant to be researching or writing essays, it's far easier just to reach over to the guitar and hammer out a few tunes...
