Indeed, though it affects many people.  All I know ATM is that it happened in all versions of PCS2 after RC2A.  Aardwolf may have made some progress toward identifying its source, so you might want to contact him about that.

Judging by the fact that the last comment there is yours, you have already seen it.  But here is the link anyway.

Just out of curiosity anyone else ever have the .cob2pof processing freeze bug?
Since it was only me when I reported it last year? I figured it would never be fixed just for ONE person if it couldn't be replicated by others.

Re: Official PCS2 Feature Request thread
Don't know, if someone else is still looking after this thread. Don't even know, if this is the right place for this.

I wondered, if there is any other program utilizing the .pmf-format and via google I found a site of the " ZFXCE " engine.  :wtf:

Here is the address: http://zfxce.sourceforge.net/index.php/Hauptseite.

Also there seem to be some video-managing programs around using the same ending.

So, are there any other programs, especially modeling programs around using the same .pmf data format as PCS2 ?

Re: Official PCS2 Feature Request thread
The PMF format is unique to PCS2.

Re: Official PCS2 Feature Request thread
PMF is PCS2 Model File basically it's just a dumb to disk of the internal (easy to manipulate) representation of the model data.

it also facilitates only having to write one conversion to the POF format, which is a pain in the ass relatively speaking to convert to and the conversion most likely to have bugs due to complexity issues - less effort, less bugs, etc.

all model formats supported convert to/from PMF

so effectively
COB->PMF / PMF->COB
DAE->PMF / PMF->DAE (in Spicious's builds and in trunk builds once he gets me the patch)
POF->PMF / PMF->POF

Re: Official PCS2 Feature Request thread
- Make a ship radius edit box, so we can fix POFs which were created with older versions of the MAX exporter.

already editable

Is this the same as "Max Radius"? Because if it was editable at one point, it is not in 2.0.3 Stable 05/15/08.

Could it be possible to "clean" textures?  If the texture isn't actually used, but it's included on the material list, ignore it so it won't get loaded.  Probably leave the material slot empty or shift everything down one.  Include the "-normal", "-heigh" "-shine", "-glow" maps in this.  No need to have them on the texture list.

Also the user settings should not be stored in the programs folder.  It will not be able to save the settings running as regular user under Win 7 (you must run as admin to make modifications to the folder).

I like this idea, although I wonder if it might get messed up by some special-case textures (I'm thinking retail-style fighter engine-glows and that sort of thing)

Also, I'm curious, has anything been done with that 'omnipoints' ("0000063: When I try to add gunpoints, the program crashes every time. ") issue? Has Bobboau done anything with PCS2 recently?

UIh....what? First time I have ever heard of this problem.

For apps in PROGRAM FILES or other WinOS dependent directories, this is a problem (ish) with work arounds. For user generated directories, this problem should not exist unless something got borked.

The problem with shifting texture slots up or down, is that it would require a pointer rebuild. Which, being as it is internal to PCS, might be accomplished. But with the current mediavp's, we did run in to a problem (I think when removing the :v: modeled thrusters) that texture slot shifts did not carry over as it was, which led to bad mapping problems or just some textures listed but not displaying on the model.

If this is something that _should_ already be possible, a step course on how to achieve it properly would be appreciated.

Settings are saved for that program session only.
On the bright side, once you've gotten everything right, it's harder to muck up.  :P

I think Spicious might be sitting on the patches until he gets that bounty money or whatever.  Has that been paid out yet, anyone know?
