Eh, first keep in mind the reason's that George Allen is loosing because of the Iraq war and the Mucacca Comment. Yes this is good news for the Dems, but both of these areas are incredibly conservative regaurdless of migration into Va from DC. Keep in mind that in montana the difference is razor thin and a lack luster performance in the house and or senate with no vision could easily hurt democrats, and have things swing back the other way. With such tight races and very little breathing room, these seats in the senate could easily be taken back in 6 years. Keep in mind, that this was NOT a triumph of idealogy and thus I ask is it really a true victory for the democrats? Personally, I think this is simply a gut reaction. If you ask them why you voted democrat, it will be due to the scandals and etc. Not the exemplar vision the democrats have given. On a side not, prepare for filibusters galore.

Yes, I think my point was essentially that this is either an opportunity for Dems to take control for an extended period or an opportunity for them to screw the pooch royally.

why don't they just call Virginia already? there is only one county that has votes outstanding, and it's strongly democratic.

oh, Isle of Wight, and Loudoun, 92% and 96% respectively, I don't see how it could be posable for it to be anything but deomocratic, though I guess recall makes some sence.

Nah we annexed it secretly in our plot to take over the world.

Seriously, Virginia, being one of the older of the 13 colonies, has alot of name 'borrowed' from Great Britain.

It's not, but it's still a good hand.  Like poker, often it's not about the hand that makes the difference, but they way it's played.

The just need to stuff a sock down Kerry's throat so he can't speak, then lock Hillary in a closet so she won't scare the sway voters away, and they'll be alright. Oh, and of course they also need to keep letting Bush screw up, that's key. Rumsfeld being out is a bit of a blow to the Dems though, he could always be counted on to provide a handy POW/abuse scandal when you needed it the most.

True, but in this case I believe the Dems have a better hand than the Republicans.  So in this case it's all a matter of how well they play they're hand.  If they play it right, they'll come out ahead in 2008, at least as far as the legislature concerned.  The Presidency is another subject entirely.  The Republicans may still have a good chance if they put a strong MODERATE candidate forward.  Otherwise they'll probably be screwed.  And Shade's right on the money.  The Dems will probably have more problems than benefits if they put Hillary forward as she'll scare swing voters away.

Is this from today's program?  Could you give me a link or something, since it's not showing up in any Google searches.
