why would an SCP error be considered as news? :wtf: *smacks Cobra*It's a feature.

Turey:

They have all been downloaded. :-) I shall wait for you to tell me when to copy them into the program.

Thank you!!

You might as well put them in now. It's unlikely you'll get to the point where you need the last two before Turey can finish uploading them :D

Not really. Do you really think that Vivienne would have been able to finish the game in the 50 seconds between my post and your edit? :p

Someone's forgotten that the movies only play in campaign mode :p

Re: Error trying to run Freespace2
:-) :-)

Everything downloaded and copied over and working well. No more having to hit escape to get into the program. I can't wait till he comes over!!! Thank you both so very much!

I have one more question that perhaps you can advise me on. I am pretty certain that he is going to love this program and want it on his computer at home. How do I transfer things to him ? Do I have to put every program I downloaded on a disk for him to install and update exactly how I did it? Or can he install the original and I copy the directory? How would you suggest I tackle this??

Thanks very much once again!!

Copy the directory then run the launcher. It should set everything up correctly for him :)

Does he need to install 1.5c first to get registry right, or does the launcher do all that?

Re: Error trying to run Freespace2
The SCP and Retail launchers are capable of setting up pretty much all the registry values that need to be set as far as I'm aware. I've been told that for instance HotU missed some values but I've never really noticed anything important missing.

Re: Error trying to run Freespace2

Well correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I know OpenAL is not included in the Freespace2 root directory, so simply copying the game root directory onto other computer doesn't guarantee that it'll work right away; if OpenAL is not installed, it must be installed.

Otherwise yes, Freespace 2 Open works simply from a root game directory containing the game data and executables, and mods in appropriate sub-folders if they are present, and the necessary registry entries are created as the game is used... so "installation procedure" in ideal conditions mainly involves Copy-Paste operation and OpenAl check/installation if necessary. Upgrading the game to latest goodies is what causes the most part of confusion, if any.
