It isn't big and flashy, but its certainly gorgeous.

nope, they were positioned by hand...all 230,000+ polys of them. ( as you can imagine,my computer didn't like this scene very much )

I can believe it. One of my scenes (Raindance Station) in its final form came in at something like 280K polys. Truespace just about gave birth to cats.

Good job with the placement. You might be able to fill out the foreground more, and eliminate a lot of far background geometry (or at least simplify it. That would certainly speed up your render.
