This bug here is still happening in this build (and the problem is a lot clearer with the white bounding box being drawn on the selected subobject now :) ), but is fixed in the BSPEX_2 build. Is that a separate issue from what you described above?

yes, that got fixed in the experimental BSP, I guess it would be ok to port that bit.

Yeah almost entirely. :)
The holes are gone now which was the big issue (yay!) but in game I'm still able to fly through it but can't shoot through it. It's kinda odd that it's not both doing one or the other. I would have expected both weaponsfire and ship collisions to be handled in the same way. :\

ship-ship collisions are handled very differently from weapon-ship collisions.

as far as I know there are no V models that have submodels that extend far beyond there parent's bounding box (non-rotateing ones anyway)

Do rotating ones get special treatment then?

Also, it used to work in PCS1 - that same model was fully collidable all over.
I mean if it shouldn't have been doing that for a valid reason, it's an easy to work with limitation, but it'd be really good if PCS2 either did take non-rotating subobjects size into account for whichever boundingbox collision detection used, of if it let the modder decide how big each one was. :)

it looks like there is some special treatment in the FS source, but it's hard to follow. I haven't seen any good explanation as to why it wouldn't be working.

Congrats...Using the latest PCS2 I converted the full HTL Typhon... everythnig worked withut a hitch :)

lol, I think you might have mixed up left and right with back and front respectively though.

Oh, and for the back and top views, could the model be rotated 180° around the camera's Z axis?

it shows that I implemented this in the five minutes before I had to run out for an hour, as soon as I got back I fixed it. I was hopping no one had downloaded in the short time, but it should be fixed and updated already.

UT, do you mean new POF specs? that will be a few months at least, if you mean new import formats (like 3ds) that could happen at any moment.

I meant the latter - I know Kazan said he didn't want it, but if .3DS or even .MAX support was implemented, it'd be a godsend for those of us who don't want to go through Truespace. :)

.3DS and/or .MAX will not happen.  .ASE will happen (Which is supported by 3DS, MAya, Lightwave, etc) - for 2.1

Just as an aside, would running the HTL Ravana through PCS2 be likely to clean up its issues (can fly through parts of the ship, can't actually hit some gun turrets) or are its woes due to something in the original model itself?
If a man consults whether he is to fight, when he has the power in his own hands, it is certain that his opinion is against fighting.

OH - one thing that annoys me to hell with PCS - when converting from POF to COB, it places the center axis (and the glued light) in the very center of the model, instead of the center of the subobject itself.

I can't just convert a Orion to cob, add a turret and convert it back - I have to re-do all the turrets!

Can this be fixed pls?

open up the POF in PCS2 and go to model info and post what it says in there - i suspect that you used a VERY old version of PCS1 before i fixed the bbox/sortnorm problems that it, and every compiler before it, had

(and... any later version of PCS1 or newer build of PCS2 shouldn't have this problem)

This what what the header info for the HTL Ravana look like in PCS2.  I do notice all of its subsystems are screwed up, with huge radii.
