I've been trying to make a decent looking explosion using hypervoxels. I've been trying for the last month actually, and well, not much success..
Anyway, while making another attempt at it, Lightwave somehow came up with this:
   
I have no idea where the other lights came from..
But it looks cool, so I dont care

It reminds me of a bowling alley, the balls along the edge of the image are the bumpers and the large splodge zig-zagging down the middle is a motion-captured bowling ball as it bounces from bumper to bumper.

Hows that?

It's very immpresive. And just to go with the flow, it does look like a lava lamp.

set the hypervoxzels to volume settings or if you have  slow processor sprites - then set it to be only lit by the light you have in the middle of the explosions sett it to be 150 diffuse 80 lumionous set shadows up set the hypertexutre to billowing  set the desnsity to about 50 opactiy to about maybe 10 or 20

the light make it orange - on the flare settings remove the ring leave the red outer and the inner glow  on set insinsity prtty high and light intensity too at least 150 try that

just guess work plus loads of trial an error - its not to difficult if you just want to set it up for stills - animations it can be mroe difficult
