I think it was Shrike who originally said something like
"We are Hard Light Productions. You will lower your firewalls and be assimilated..."
and it kept going. I can't find the original thread so I can't quote it exactly but I'm sure somebody can find it.
Down with HLP clones!

Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Well, you can trademark a 3 letter abbreviation if you associate a distinct visual to it. Like, the HLP associated with the logo, for an instance, or on a specific, custom-made font... That's how it works here in Brazil at least...
