I just watched two episodes of an indecent anime.

0.0 Did someone say "indecent anime"? Please allow me to express my interest towards the subject.

Sometimes, I ask myself if I'm crazy.

Every day I say to myself: "Remember, you wanker. You're crazeeh!" And then I watch anime.

But, you see, quite some chaps, me included, view anime as utter crap. Annoying retarded childs in orange pajamas. Strange androgynous[/] guys putting cards on some kinda desk and shouting: "Black Mage, I summon thee!. And, of course, yet another retarded child with a yet another annoying voice summoning yet other monsters you want to shoot.

The only anime I've ever liked was Digimon, that had it moments.

Interest in other cultures is indeed good. As is having opinions.

Not trying to defy your opinions here, but not all anime is retards in orange pyjamas. There are some more sophisticated and more adult anime series, such as Darker than Black, where the mood is pretty oppressive or such, and the comic relief is limited. I recommend. If for nothing else, then at least showing you that not all anime is the kind of crap you described.

Now, let's talk about Naruto. I watch it. I like it. Sometimes the "humour" annoys, but the drama and character development more than make up for it. I know I'm a weirdo, since the majority of Naruto fans are most likely dimwitted little brats who think that violence and superpowers are cool. And I fully symphatize the people at Dattebayo Fansubs for this reason alone.

Personally, I hate Pokemon/Digimon/Battle B Daman (or however it is spelled) and all the other variants of the "buy these cards/other **** and battle with your friends" scheme.

Naruto doesn't end in "mon". And it has ninjas.

Naruto still sucks, it's like Avatar and any other childrens TV series.. The only reason oi tolerated my little brother watching Pokemon in my younger days was because i secretly wanted to see officer jenny handcuff Jesse and well.umm.

I'm not surprised you think all anime is crap if you only watched crap.

The term anime is as broad a term as "Holywood movie"  - just like most things that come out of it are crap,  some are good and a few are really amazing, so it is with anime. Only it's even more complicated with anime, since you got about 10943784 types of anime - from differences in animations styles to audience, etc..

Some of the good ones:

Cowboy Beebop
Rourin Kenshin (move, not series)
Vision of Escaflowne (series, not movie)
Ghost in the Shell
Record of hte Lodoss War
etc, etc, etc...


EDIT: Avatar is actually quite good. Good animations, excellent character development (Zuko). The only thing that irks me about it is that they insist on the Aang (12) & Katara (14-15) romance..It's so wrong it's abysmaly wrong.

Going back a decade before those, Venus Wars, Guyver and Dominion Tank police are also examples of Good Anime. Patlabor and Jin-Roh Wolf Brigade alos. Trigun was just silly, Fist of the North Star had the odd moment too.

I can now use my Shoes as a mirror, i'm ironing a Tie. (all my attire is Ironed and hanging up, i have pride in appearance )

edit- might be a bit OCD but my leather watch strap is looking a bit tatty so i'm giving a klight coat to prevent further damage, while it's out i may as well use it)

Lobo and TrashMan kinda nailed it down pretty well.

To be honest, I've had much more fun when watching various anime shows than I've had when watching typical western tv-shows and movies. It sucks but here nothing genuinely interesting is airing. About the only show I watch is House. I mostly missed first and second season of House because it aired at the same time as Lost. Then I stopped watching Lost but only picked up House when third season started.

I wish Supernatural's third season would start soon, the first two were good. Sheesh, I'm finding it difficult to even remember any good tv-shows. Well, except for SG Atlantis which I have to download because it has never aired here. But then again, it's no different from how I acquire my anime.

I always enjoyed ranma 1/2. The first anime i'd ever seen was sailor moon. Ranma 1/2 was the second one i seen, and a heck of a lot better.
