The two or so weeks before exams are worse than the rest of the semester combined. I'm finding it harder and harder to concentrate each day and my mood is slowly getting worse. Just two weeks to go, gotta hold on.

Tried out the "living concept art" for SpaceVenture and was instantly sold. Didn't feel like posting about it though since (a) there was only a few hours left of their Kickstarter (b) my last adventure game thread wasn't exactly the talk of the town. (Although I did see a KQ3 reference recently on the forums, but I only played 5 and 6.)

Just finished working a shift in a store full of computers and machines that make really loud, shrill, piercing noises.

And went through the entire step-by-step procedure of one of my migraines. Right from my eyesight doing weird things with entire quadrants of my vision fuzzing and blanking out, to the "my head feels fine but my body and mind are sluggish and dysfuntional" to the "Why won't this foot stop stepping on my face" face pain.

Needless to say, I'm a little worn out. I am so thankful that for me, migraines are a fairly rare occurrence. Unlike some members of my family, in which migraines run on my mother's side.

Unfortunately, it's also a retail customer service job. So no go on the earplugs. Though sometimes I'd like to use them to drown out the idiocy of some of the more dimwitted customers.

mixed blessing.  the idiots are usually the easiest ones to sell extra **** to and get management off your back.  one such guy even offered to give me a side gig to come out to his place and set up a "home file-sharing server."  i.e., share a folder and map a network drive on the other computer.

I've been getting the feeling lately from some of my friends that endorsing things like feminism, gay marriage and no mandatory detention for refugees somehow makes me a bad person. Why exactly, I don't know, but ever since the misc on the bodybuilding forum took off, I've noticed a resurgence in sexism among people my age. I find it ****ing disgusting, rage-inducing, and just downright immature. Not really sure what to think of myself.

I've found that (at least here in london) a lot of the sexism in youth culture is being propegated by the women. I personaly thinks it's just lazyness, and an aversion to hard work. I've personally met several girls who's genuine life goal was to get pregnant, and so believe that they don't need to learn and that men will support them.

The youngest girl I heard that from was drinking in the street with her 'girlfriends' in broad daylight, and couldn't have been older than 15.

True enough, and that's the thing though - things are different over there. (Not that I endorse sexism, but the way members of a particular gender are perceived to act. The whole chav subculture doesn't do anyone any favours, and that's the other thing, those kind of lazy chicks should have their laziness attributed to the fact that they're chavs, not 'caus they're chicks).

I digress! But yes, over here, the girls me and my mates are in contact with aren't even stupid! They're very, very, smart and progressive women. These fellas just spend too much time looking at these silly 'women logic' threads where the worst things women have ever done are posted and amalgamated as if that's a representation of women as a whole. 

I honest to God can think of only one woman at all, whom I've met, who would think of getting pregnant as some kind of get-out-of-life's-hard-work free card. And even she barely qualifies, although her boyfriend being a veterinary student could be considered to be some kind of 'long-term investment'. Who knows?

Happens plenty over here in my area of Canada too. Though I've noticed it tends to be more widespread amongst areas with lower socioeconomic levels, where a lot of the girls get pregnant so they can apply for social assistance and subsidized housing, and they get more money the more kids they have. That, and the more money they have the more can be spent on booze and weed, and their parents won't be around to say anything. Edit: because they have their own place.

Chav is a british term, comes from "Council-Housed And Violent" iirc. Refers to a certain youth subculture.

Problem is Dilmah that a lot of the ones who came to my mind are not actually Chavs, but seem to be under the misapprehension that posessing a set of functioning mammary glands and ovaries acts as a kind of "Get out of work free" card. I'm not saying that all women I meet are like this, indeed, the majority of the girls I know are hard working, intelligent and independent (My girlfriend is one of the greatest examples of this I can think of), but there is a sizeable minority here in the UK who are as Firespawn and I have pointed out, and I expect that it's the same elsewhere.

And I think when you throw away everything the feminist movement worked to give you and act like that, some guys are going to take that as representative of all females everywhere - and there are other personal factors that may lead to them forming that world view.

I should point out that I'm not supporting misogynist view points, they're stupid, ignorant and completely ass-backward. But they're not entirely down to pure sexism on the parts of the males - Some encounter women who do endorse and support their ass-backward-ry.
