those people are lying. to themselves, if nothing else. i can understand sometimes WANTING to go to sleep with TV in the background. i use music myself somewhat often. but i'd certainly never say i NEED it. and i'd DEFINITELY never be a big enough douche to play it when others sleep in the same room as me, like certain of my former roommates. who refused to use his ipod with headphones because it might fall out of the bed.

not that it probably would have helped anyway. one night he was playing a game at 4 in the morning (that i introduced him to, silly me). it woke me up and kept me up, so i threw my headphones at him. i thought at first he didn't take the hint, because there was no change in the volume, but i finally looked over and saw he did in fact have the headphones on, he just turned it up so loud it sounded the same as coming through the speakers. which also meant he got a lot louder using teamspeak.

anywho, the downside of getting out of work early and having a nice 4 hour nap in the afternoon - awake and not the slightest bit tired at 3am.
