you UK? most of the independent takaways (not just pizzas) around here that do deliveries will do so for free on drops within about 3-5 miles of the shop on orders over £8-15 (£15 tend to be the Chinese takeaways) so if your area is similar then you can understand the upset as you would expect a large chain to be able to take the hit as well.

Though tbh making the effort to complain is excessive as I presume the fact that you will be charged is in print on the takeaway menus and in the shop so they should have known.  and yes if we are thinking about phoning an order from somewhere new I usually look at the delivery print to see what the minimum order is for free delivery and say sod that if there is none.

fair enough then, different country different culture and different economic balance.  Still taking the effort to complain to that extent especially if the situation is the norm is defiantly ott for the equivalent of a couple of quid (assuming from google conversion about 3 AUD)

So my youngest brother and several of his friends were apparently all doing the majority of their summer work on the final day of summer vacation, because really who wouldn't do that.  Anyway, one of his friends sent him a copy of one of the biology chapters they had to outline, in return for sending another chapter the other way.  He goes to copypasta the relevant material into his document...and Word up and crashes.  Like, I've seen Microsoft products do crazy things, but I didn't think I'd ever see Word choke to death on a ****ing copy and paste. Even stranger, he was able to copy each individual line; it was only selecting the whole outline that did it.  I pretty much threw up my hands at that one.

There are filaments of spiderweb in my lamp.  They are so fried by the heat that with the slightest touch they literally evaporate into smoke which rises up on the air currents.  And I am just totally mesmerized by this.
