And I got a custom title. Life is good.
How did you get that for a Custom Title?
Isn't it obvious?
I'm eating an apple.
In other news...
I've been playing a lot of Civ4 recently. The game is down to two super-powers, myself and the Incan Empire. I'm in a perm alliance with the Portuguese under Joao II, and we've been going to war a few times now since acquiring a nice combination of fission and rocketry. The short version is I'm the only race with (nuclear) ICBM's, and they've been used frequently in now two wars.
The first was was declared upon me by Huayna Capac, not long after I formed a permanent alliance with Joao II. He sends a dinky invasion set that capture a worthless city and then are kicked off my continent. He tries to invade all gung-ho, but apparently the AI doesn't expect a player to have a NORAD-like defense system backed up by decent-sized fleets of destroyers and battleships, as well as the very bombers that spotted them. I spotted his approaching REAL fleet (a an escort and 8 transports loaded presumptively with WWII-style tanks), and started bombing them (to soften them up) before my fleet of destroyers sunk them and their escort. This happened about four more times by the Incan's various vassals as well as once or twice more by the Inca themselves. Each time it's the same deal; bombers spot them out in the ocean, they're bombed, and then a cleanup fleet sends them below the waterline.
Meanwhile, I am bringing about 15 transports and an escort to Joao's land, and unload them. They go and invade one of Huayna's vassals, Carthage, as well as liberate a few cities that Huayna still held since Carthage capitulated. Long story short is that, besides a few small islands, Huayna lost control of the western part of the continent.
I declare peace and get a hefty payoff (3000g plus another 700g in subsequent turns), but not before unleashing about 8 ICBM's on the Incan homeland, decimating their population. Over the ~20 turn peace that follows, I rebuild my ICBM reserves (currently over a dozen) and start building a carrier fleet. With enough ICBM's and having healed and reassigned a few bomber groups, I set my sights on the last sovereign nation; China. With 3 blocs left (Huayna Capac with 3-4 vassals, down once since Carthage's conquest; myself with Joao II and the capitulated Carthage; and Mao Zedong, alone, of China), I declare war on China and set out to decimate their forces. I used about 4 ICBM's; one softened Shanghai, a second softened a fortress too close for comfort to Portugal, and the other two were launched to, ironically, destroy tactical nukes that China was planning to use against me. I found them and destroyed them all during the same turn (before they could disappear to the fog of war). I let the war drag on a bit and kept invading, and liberated or gifted all of the cities taken to Portugal, since they were undersized compared to me. In fact, they still are, though they've doubled in land and population. China capitulates and now contributes to my land and population totals. I figure that I can "shake free" a few more of Huayna Capac's vassals by building up a big enough ICBM fleet. I figure that 40-50 ICBM's should drop Huayna's population low enough to convince at least two of his capitulated vassals to break free. Soften them up with an invasion and I'm sure that they too will agree to capitulate to me.
