In case you were wondering, I regularly use alt-codes. Most of the time it's 0233 (é) or 234 (Ω). 0128 (€) and 0163 (£) is helpful too.

I used to have a mouse mat which had a whole load of alt-codes written on it. It disappeared a while ago...
