i was trying to get my helicopter to fly and i found a couple serious bugs, the first of which was that the servo controlling the tail rotor pitch was backwards. i had assumed the reason it was spinning out of control was because of improper calibration, but turns out that the servo was backwards, it was compensating for yaw by tilting the blades in the wrong direction. the manual was essentially wrong about the proper orientation of the servo. the second was an inverted roll axis, which was easily corrected for by reprogramming to radio. as a result i managed to take off, fly six feet and land without epically failing. then the wind picked up and the battery died.

i managed to get my chopper flight ready again. i put the chopper into a hover and the wind kinda tipped the bird enough for me to loose control of it, the rotor blades hit asphalt and somehow in the process managed to bend the hardest piece of metal in the thing, the rotor axle, just enough to cause some pretty bad vibrations. it managed to vibrate some of the screws out of the frame structure. i replaced the screws with new ones but came to the conclusion that id have to replace it and probably rebalance the blades , which had some material scraped off the tips, not enough to prevent lift but enough to imbalance the rotor weight/drag/lift. still what bugs me is the axle is a $5 part, but everyone wants $10 to ship it. ****ers.
