I went out to the beach to exercise just now. I had barely finished when I heard the rain coming, so I raced it to the nearest shelter, about 150m away. Just as I ran under it, the sky opened. Talk about close. :D

Started replaying WiH, actually paying attention this time.

Had nothing to read on the toilet - so I speedpainted some bird that came to my mind (apprx. 5 minutes). Sadly I'm not that good in drawing.

I don't think he's receiving a diploma, buddy (though I could be wrong). Pretty sure this is a masters or PhD, iirc.

I've decided to swap out my less frequent, more intense exercise regiment for a less intense, more frequent one after realising, at the end of my exercise routine yesterday, that although my body can probably handle quite a bit of what National Service will throw at me, my heart won't. I'm currently doing twenty sit-ups, twenty push-ups, fifteen inclined pull-ups and jogging for about 400 metres, and even that is enough to leave me completely breathless for about ten to fifteen minutes.

Thanks! I started looking for jobs back in December and have one lined up at this point.

As for what I did, it's a phd in applied math. :p This is a semi-popular account of the stuff I worked on.

Better work on that stamina I guess... would more jogging help?

Light jogging, brisk but not power walking, cycling, swimming any of them for 30+mins a day or light weights (a couple of bean cans would also do the job) with many repetitions.  basically you are looking to work your body over a prolonged, preferably unbroken, period of time, ideally over 30 minutes) to improve your bodies ability to take in and process oxygen which means keeping your heart rate in this range

Re: W-H-I-Y-L I pity the fools that diss it.
I finally got back to that big used-book sale that I hit up last week.  Picked up a whole bunch of books...a bit of Asimov and Clarke, since my sci-fi-fu is sorely lacking, two-thirds of a Star Wars trilogy by Stackpole that I think I heard people praising somewhere around here, four or five original James Bond novels, a random volume from the X-Wing series (Bacta War, I think), the sequel to Dune (which I still haven't read yet), and probably a few other things I'm forgetting.  I also stumbled across a vinyl copy of music from Return of the Jedi, as well as an old-school huge-box copy of the original Unreal Tournament.  And to top it all off...I found some sort of special copy of X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter which has a "Not for Resale" sticker on the front, which makes me think it was some sort of promotional copy.  There's a burned CD with a "Master Disk" label alongside the normal game CD, so I'm not even sure what's up with it, but it should be fun to poke through.

All in all, what I call a good haul. :D
