Wouldn't you be in classroom like places a lot as an officer?... or am I completely missing the point...
I concur. Won't you just be in classrooms where they shout at you and make youdo P.T. if you muck up or miss a deadline?
For the 16 weeks of Officer Training School it's something like 8 hours of classes a day, difference being that I actually have a serious interest in learning about the Service, tactics, leadership, basically all of the modules taught at OTS. This is as opposed to my current line up of English, Political and Legal, Modern History, Applicable Maths (fun calculus and other **** I'll never use in my working life), and Physics. Got to the point where I'm not enjoying a second of it most days. Spend half the time on my laptop reading about Mil science, mil aviation and other related things anyway.
I was under the impression undergrad was a prereq for obtaining a commission, unless you're attending a military academy or have gone mustang?
In Aus unless your specialisation requires a degree you can go through the OTS without an undergraduate degree. Most cadets
do have degrees though, and AFAIK it's more of a maturity than a knowledge thing that degree qualified blokes are picked for.
You can do it directly by applying to ADFA.
Not too keen on the Academy after the spate of allegations this year.

It'll still be a second preference option since the courses I'd plan to take there cover what I'm into, but my goodness, having my head in the books studying crap I have zero interest in is going to drive me insane by the time I'm 19 at this rate. Grades have slipped fairly firmly into B/C range from the A-/B+ at least I used to maintain.
In other news my exams are now about 2 weeks away and I've got to pull the motivation to study from somewhere between now and then. My sleep's also become pretty fragmented and everything else is starting to suffer as a result. When it rains, it pours.
