as a side note, this news coverage is really making me realize how dumb a lot of reporters are.

One of the world's fundamental truths, well for the majority any how.  There are some strong exceptions that prove the rule but beyond celebrity the majority are numpties.

This hasn't been a good month and a bit for the F/A-18 community. They lost a pilot and a trainee pilot last month at MCAS Miramar as the result of a murder/suicide didn't they?

they haven't confirmed any, but unfortunately i've got to think there were some deaths.  3 apartment buildings of 4 units each are simply GONE.  it will be a goddamn miracle if every one of those was empty at the time.  there's basically zero chance anyone who might have been in those 3 survived.

They've checked every room, three people are not accounted for, no bodies have been found.

Considering that there were in fact people who were in the buildings who were interviewed by various news outlets, your logic is not only bad and demonstrably wrong, but you didn't actually pay attention. Yahoo News had this, man. Freaking Yahoo News.

More seriously, this is a small jet crashing into a small building that didn't even do much burning or anything. (The plane was apparently dumping fuel involuntarily, which suggests a pretty catastrophic failure.) Compare this to, say, 9/11, where a really damn big jet crashed into a huge building that then subsequently collapsed dropping the remains about a thousand feet (since pretty much everyone who died did so above or very close to the point of impact), and they managed to find roughly 1900 bodies and identify most of them. Compared to that, this is easy as hell.

dude, I ****ING LIVE HERE.  this happened 3 ****ing miles from me.  i saw the black pillar of smoke with my own eyes.  did you watch hours of live aeral footage on your local news station?  or did you just see a few facebook videos and photos?  i heard primary sources LIVE.  not the third hand crap yahoo news spit back at you.  i've read multiple national news articles that gave incorrect details.
