Red Label is in the lowest spot on the scotch whisky totem pole. It's the stuff you mix with coke for people who don't like scotch. Honestly, spend the money and get something decent. I'm talking single malt, minimum 12 years old. I'm a lowlands man myself, with an occasional desire for a bit of smoke (Islay). Grab a bottle of Auchentoshan 3 Wood or Glenkinchie 12 YO. worth the extra money so many times.
Oh, and as for Bacardi, definitely nasty stuff. Tastes like Glue. The Havana Club White is pretty much the standard that White rums need to aspire to (or beat), and it's relatively cheap as well. Find a bottle and never look back (especially you Dilmah, it used to be hard to find, but it's all over Perth these days).
Indeed true. Then again, if someone doesn't like Scotch, why are they requesting a drink with Scotch in it? That's something I'll look into though. I've always dreamed of having Single Malt before, but it's not like I'm bleeding through the ears with cash (and I'm trying to not look like an alcoholic... albeit perhaps too late at this point)
On that note though, in order to appreciate the higher end, you need to start at the lowest point. If you start at the top, you wouldn't of had the chance to build up to it. My next bottle of scotch will most likely be Blue Label. Of course, I need to finish that liqueur first
Hmm, you may make an absolute ****fight of yourself on the rest of the board, but you are good at reviewing alcohol. Good post.
Thanks. At least I'm good for something
Sidenote: How could I improve on these reviews? I can say I'm quite enjoying (weeee) the tasting of these products, but knowing what you guys want to hear about them would be excellent
