Worked late today, and I have to go back to work tomorrow morning.

And then I'll be free from tomorrow afternoon until next Monday.

Re: W-H-I-Y-L It's over 1000!!!!! (pages)
What kind of cars where your last 3?

Last 2. Not on my third one yet. My first was a 1993 Mazda MX-6. I loved that thing. Drove beautifully, looked impressive, never had a problem with it, and came into existence in the same year I did... unfortunately the guy that crashed into it tore off the back bumper, the back lights and damaged the chassis. The insurance company wouldn't repair it, so it was a write off. At least we got good money out of the payout.

My second (and current, though it appears it won't be for long) is a 1998 Toyota Corolla. Meh. It's dual fuel, running on both LPG and petrol (you guys call it gas, if memory serves), which means it is incredibly cheap to run. Pretty much the only reason I'll be sad to see it go is that it'll be more cash out of my pocket to keep whatever replacement I get filled up. It's stalling when I clutch in, overheating if I drive for longer than about half an hour... that sort of thing. We're going to be replacing the thermostat on the weekend to see if that's the problem, but I'm going to start looking out for something to replace it with. Not sure how I'm even going to sell this thing to anyone.

That dual fuel sounds interesting, I haven't seen anything like that in the US around where I'm at. Hopefully the new thermostat will fix the overheating problem, if not then you might need to check to see if the fan is working properly and then finally the microcontroller (they call it a computer sometimes, I disagree on the semantics).

What do you mean by "stalling when I clutch in?" Is it a Standard/Manual transmission?

The fan works, we've checked that. Haven't looked at the microcontroller though (I'm pretty sure we call it a computer actually, but microcontroller sounds cooler.)

It's a manual transmission, so by "clutch in" I meant when I push the clutch pedal in to change gears. Revs would dive down perilously close to zero, three times today actually getting there and resulting in awkward restarting of the car while people beeped at me.

Yeah, had similar thoughts when you mentioned the overheating issue, hopefully the thermostat helps (and it seems likely on a 98).

As for stalling on clutch-in, if it is a manual (in which case, damn you lucky bastard, my last car was one and I loved it, but I can't have one anymore as my girlfriend can't drive manual) get the fuel mix settings and the idle sensor checked. Could also be the sensor that controls fuel mix if its controlled by one. It sounds like it's running either a hair too rich or lean. My Saturn had a similar issue just before I sold it, when I was offered the car I have now; though I never bothered to fix it.

It's a microcontroller, because it controls the car's and engine behavior... and doesn't just compute numbers. :P

Wait wait, the rev's go down below the idle rpm when you disengage (push the pedal down) the clutch? The last time that happened to me, I had a bad alternator (and a nearly-dead battery) and essentially I had to get the engine to diesel in order to stay alive. I think I also had a sticky throttle valve, but some WD-40 cleared that up.

Did you stall an automatic transmission, though?

Just because it's canned, doesn'y mean that it is bad. Just preserved.

Also just watched three episodes of some weird ass show called 'Lexx'.

It is possible. Just not easy. Usually involves managing to flood the engine somehow.

Headdie is probably closest to correct, but in all honesty at the time neither I nor the driving instructor had a clue how I managed it. I still don't; I was in the middle of doing a three-point turn and the car just stalled.

Re: W-H-I-Y-L It's over 1000!!!!! (pages)
Eventful day
Headed out, caught a bus, forgot something at home, got off bus, ran home, got what I forgot, and then waited for another bus
That bus was supposed to head out at 2:25 (the previous being 2:00), but na. It decided to wait for a Ferry and headed out at 2:50 instead

So I was running late, or at least so I thought

Arrived at my favourite restaurant, and figured to grab a bite to eat. It was my original intention, and I was craving the **** out of a Thai Chicken Rollup
So I ordered one up. Then came more people. And then some more. I was in the booth, with no escape. I had my rollup, and enjoyed the hell out of it watching everyone else as they didn't have the food they ordered yet. Satisfied, I let them know I needed to get out.

Well, then came the shotty nots, and the argument about who had more on which side
Bah
**** it

I climbed on top of the table and off the other side leaving shocked and surprised faces behind me

Grabbed a bus, headed down to the meeting place where I was to see a good friend of mine. Myself and her then waited for some other fellow to join us, and have sushi. I'm not a fan of anything uncooked, so I chose the beef sushi.

Off to Marble Slab for Ice Cream

Then off to see the Avengers
Since... everyone else seemed to say it was awesome... had to see it for myself
Not bad of a movie
