Had a tornado warning hovering over us earlier, which is never good for my nerves.  Fortunately nothing came of it, and the system has mostly cleared out of here.

This is something I've been waiting for such a long time, I now have my left stick mapped for pitch and heading, my right stick mapped for main thrust and left/right vector thrusts... and the piece de resistance: the left/right tilt for roll, and the forward/back tilt for up/down vector thrusts.

So awesome.  :yes:

Only downside I've come across so far is that the tilt updates seem to be a bit sluggish, not sure if it's the controller's accelerometers or if it's the third-party drivers.

i cannot figure out why my desktop will not boot with my laptop drive as a secondary.  the new (uninitialized) drive doesn't make it do that.  the fact it's uninitialized may be why, but i have no way of knowing for sure.  and to top it all off, seagate's backup utility (in the same prog that i need to do the clone) keeps failing verification, saying the backup is corrupted.

... and now windows on the desktop thinks it's broken because of the failed boots, and entered into the automatic recovery that i can't exit out of.  so i get to wait 30 minutes or so while it tries to fix what isn't broken.   :mad2:

Wish I had eclipse-viewing glasses.  I'll at least attempt the binoculars-focused-on-paper method...if nothing else, maybe I'll set the paper on fire. :D

Venus during transit is about 1 arcminute in diameter (1/32 the diameter of the sun) and is just barely large enough to discern with eclipse goggles.

Projection is still the way to go IMO, either through a pinhole, binocs, or a refracting telescope.

It's assuming perfect seeing conditions, though, and during the daytime, with the atmosphere stirred up by sunlight and plenty of heat distortion off the surrounding land radiating back into the air...

You're really not likely to see something that small. Projection, White Light/Hydrogen Alpha Filter.

Well I didn't say it would be easy to spot, just that it's possible. :P  I definitely suggest some manner of projection -- far safer and better chance of success since you have a more magnified image.
