What if I went back in time and prevented Sony from making the console deal with Nintendo?
-I would nullify the existence of the PlayStation and Xbox.
-PC gaming wouldn't have died; though it has been revived thanks to Steam.
-Nintendo wouldn't have switched to making casual gimmicks.
-Sega would still be alive and we'd get a Dreamcast 2.
-3DO Mark 2, Atari Jaguar 2 and Neo Geo 64-bit might have been invented.
-Without the Xbox and PlayStation making gaming mainstream, video games might still be good.

Hey guys, I just saved video games!
Hey, do you mind, Nakura? I love my PS1 and PS2. :)

Nah, I doubt it. The mainstreaming of gaming was an inevitable consequence of the technological developments and the corporate system as a whole, not within any specific company. The processes and timeline might have been slightly different, but in essence, it was steam engine time. Nothing anyone cold have done about it.

The PS1 and especially the PS2 had tons of really good **** on them.  I still have a pretty sizable backlog for the latter.  Never owned a Dreamcast though. :(

No, the bypassing of the lock was with my parents' permission, given at the time and place it happened. But I don't think any amount of parental permission makes it ok for her to forcibly uncover me in my bed (esp. since I'm not a minor anymore). And I don't know how the law works as far as harassment, but ... bleh.
This all sounds waaaaay over the line to me.

me personally, id have slept with her.

Aardwolf, sleep in the nude. That should stop her uncovering you in future, you could then claim sexual harrassment!  ;)

Re: W-H-I-Y-L It's over (omg the cats)
StarSlayer: not much no :( I mostly do my own food preparation, my parents are making me do my laundry separately nowadays (partly because it smells, but also partly for "independence"... but it's annoying when I discover some of dad's socks snuck into my load)... I occasionally help a little (and I mean little) carrying firewood, but dad hasn't instructed me in the ways of keeping the jøtul going.

deathfun: how about no.

My DoodPoseyTool now has CommDlg.h file save/load dialogs! Yay!  :) Much better than copying, deleting, and renaming files manually!

Re: W-H-I-Y-L It's over (omg the cats)
doing household crap does nothing for independence. theres no time for that kinda stuff when you have to work a job and pay rent. society doesn't care if you live in a pig pin so long as you show up to work wearing clean looking pants.

and you cant operate the jøtul? my sister has one of those, its not that hard to use at all. put a small strip of cardboard, the kindling, and some cold coals between two peices of wood, light up the cardboard, stick a peice on top, close the door and open the ash tray panel. once its going cram the thing full of wood and shut it down. if you are using well seasoned wood and not the crappy wet stuff my sister uses, it might be easier than that.

It's more that dad always does it, and I don't do it, so dad continues to do it. Although I imagine there's some finesse to opening the whatchamaslit the right amount to get the right flow of air, and some responsibility to actually check on it every few hours (if not more frequently), both of which I lack >.>

Ash tray panel??

Re: W-H-I-Y-L It's over (omg the cats)
my sister's stove has this panel for extracting the tray that holds all the ashes. opening it lets a ****ton of air to get in. you're not supposed to open it while the fire is going, but its a good way to get the thing going. its not really that hard to stoke a stove, a single hot coal can get a fire going again, just give it fuel (wood) and air, and it helps to eliminate space around it so the heat has nowhere to go but into the wood. what takes skill is getting the most burn time out of a load of wood. i can get my sister's stove to last about 4-6 hours on a load, her husband says he can get 10 but i think hes exaggerating. eventually you get to this point where you stoke the fire in your sleep with no recollection that you did so.

That awkward moment when you were about to save your progress on a 3d model and the app crashes moments before.

EDIT: That awesome moment when you discover a bunch of models you lost a long time ago and can now continue to work on.
