I got my gal a Olympus TG-2 for her birthday. She wanted to know if I was prepared for the consequences of unleashing her inner photography nerd. Between that and Payton Manning losing the Superbowl it was a pretty good day.

As far as I can tell, the celebration involves drinking, eating copious amounts of chips ("crisps" for the Europeans among you), and getting extremely angry at events happening on a TV screen.

Sports fanaticism is one thing I will never understand.

And you Europeans don't get to act like you're not guilty of this too. I've seen how you guys treat the World Cup. You're just as bad.

I don't give a **** about sports beyond gymnastics but it's pretty fun to sit around with people and care about the same thing, even if only for a little bit.

I love football (soccer).

HLP seems remarkably apathetic about sports though, so I haven't brought it up.

But those are the euro/world cups, the best way of celebrating nationalism and breed inter-nation rivalry since the world wars

(Heck, football has often been reffered to as "war". I geuss taht's why the Germans are so good at it) . I can't imagine the Americans doing anything on a similar level

. If it was an USA vs Brazilia thing, I can imagine it being 'celebrated', but it seems weird to refer to it as a celebration. From what I gather, the whole nation is rather obsessed by it, which seems strange as with the EUro Cups, the finale is often not watched by citizens of nations not participating in it.

I was at the Twenty20 between Australia and England on Sunday night.

Many a wallop was had. It was glorious. I am not apathetic about sport. I love cricket in all shapes and sizes (but Test matches reign supreme).

I think Cricket with the Ashes is the only sport-thread I've seen on HLP.

Unfortunately, I don't care about cricket.

Buried our cat in the garden on Friday night, she loved being in our garden, (as long as we didn't shut the door, then she'd cry to come back in). The grave looks lovely, with pink gravel on the top a fence and edging stones around it. Four solar lights at each corner so that it lights up in the evening.
