sonofa***** I think my laptop completely died. Won't turn on at all, neither plugged in or on battery. The LED doesn't even light up when plugged in. Maybe I can bust it open and find a loose wire or something, but I wanted to use it now and I don't have the patience for that.

Just a couple months after upgrading the CPU too. Still haven't found an acceptable replacement. Why did the quality of laptops plummet since 2006? Why does tiny smartphone have a 4k screen, but a sub-$1000 laptop only has 768? And what the **** happened to trackpoints?!?

How long until windows 10 is released? Hopefully it is more tolerable than 8.

EDIT: false alarm. Turns out it was the power chord and the battery was dead. Completely. I had already tried breaking/remaking the connection at the tip (one of those multi-swappable deals), but did it again out of desperation and it worked. Crisis over. Though it does worry me a bit about the battery dying so quickly when disconnected (I usually take it out to prevent killing it since I'm almost always plugged in) and the chord connector tip starting to loose good contact.

I wish I knew why they made smartphones with that many pixels. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference at a quarter of the pixel density than they seem to like using (what good is watching HD when everything is so small anyways), and they'd certainly be cheaper without them, and the batery life might be slightly better too.

As for larger screens, I've since retired my laptop in favor of a Surface Pro 2, but I wish I could get a 4k screen (or 3) for my desktop that was smaller than 30 inches, though my next purchase is likely to be an ultrawide since it better matches my use case rather than something that just has more pixels.

4k is complete overkill for anything except movie theaters (which is why it even exists). I read an article on Cnet where someone did the math, and you have to be 5 feet away from a 55" TV for your eyes to resolve past 1080p.

Here's the article. It's quite a leap going from overkill-for-tvs to overkill-for-all-but-cinemas, but 4K is definitely not a feature that should make you choose one display over another despite all other features.

EDIT: If you're like me and you have an immense distrust of everything from Cnet this is a better explanation of the biological limits to our eyesight.

I really goddamn hate group work in university. The professor in this one course doesn't have his **** together, the person at uni who's supposed to contact my group about the nonprofit we're to work with for the semester is unreachable, the nonprofit has no idea who we are or what we need from them when we phone, and my group members do bugger-all. Oh, and our proposal is due by Wednesday.

Sooo... I was totally lusting after my sister at that point. She was also having bad trouble with the law. She was actually in custody when I left home.
My friend and I went to go pick her up. When I saw her that day, after seeing the video, I have to be honest, I just wanted to **** her brains out. Looking back on it now, it's pretty messed up- but I think she had feelings for me too. She actually kissed me right after we came to get her... and it wasn't a sisterly kiss, you know? I mean, it wasn't like ridiculously sexual or anything, but it definitely wasn't sisterly.
After we left, we all went to crash with my Sister's friends. On the trip there, my friend sort of implied that he wanted to get with my Sister, and I got a little jealous. He's a good looking guy- and even though she was my sister- I just felt like he was competition. Not much else happened between us for a while except some maybe-sexy hugging.
Pretty much everyone in my life at that point was wanted by the government, so we all moved around a lot. I'm not saying that I'm proud of it or anything, but it was kind of an awesome time.
My friend and my sister never hooked up I don't think- but I thought there was some serious sexual tension going on between them. It was around that time that I got really badly hurt in an accident. It was ****ed up. I almost died. But when I was in recovery my sister came to see me, and out of the clear blue sky she started gives me this awesome, slow, passionate kiss on the lips.
Sadly (although, I guess for the best) nothing ever came of it. We spent some time apart... and I started to get really religious, so I tried not to think of her that way. It was actually going well for a long time- like I was totally over her. But I have to say, like a year or so after all that stuff went down, we were out sailing (not like a date or anything romantic like that), and she was wearing like the hottest bikini I've ever ****ing seen and it brought back all the old feelings. Sigh.
A little while later she actually wound up with my friend from before (the sexual tension guy). I can't say I was surprised.
But even after she was shacking up with my friend, there was one time we were at a party... my friend was inside, and my sister and I were outside alone. It was a really intimate moment. I think something might have happened, except that I killed the mood when
