Interesting issues. (A bit humorouse)
1) When briefings always start they say "This is <insert name here>" as if their addressing the crew over a radio, it gave me the impression that the pilots get briefed in their quarters, there are an awful lot of flaws in that, what if their playing a video game or listening to music and wont be able to listen. At least you can make sure you have their attention if you address them in person. Imagine a pilot having a tender moment with his girlfriend, or going to the lavatory and hears say... Admiral Petrarch’s voice coming out of nowhere, like he was their with you, imagine the hilarious scenarios.

2) Does the same command guy (You know the black guy in freespace 2) control ALL GTVA forces by himself? that MUST put some sort of mental strain on him. Or does he just happen to control all the engagements with "Alpha 1" in? As if he's stalking him, creepy. But seriously, it would be like playing the medieval total war game but having to control all the battles by yourself, at the same time.

I would like to hear your thoughts on these issues, What do you think?

Re: Interesting issues. (A bit humorouse)
1) "This is [Insert name here]" is usually used by people who we have previously not met before, implying the fact that he is introducing himself. I first of all think that Volition would never make them introduce themselves to the same people over and over again. I cannot quite recall how many times the same person may have introduced himself to the pilots but pilots get killed all the time meaning he/she is probably just introducing himself to the newcomer.

2) I am sure I heard somewhere that "Command" is only the commander for 3rd fleet but if he does command the entire GTVA then maybe he just has more brain processing power. I think I heard somewhere that "Command" was based on one of the space station in Capella and it just so happens that 3rd fleet is based there too which suggest "Command" does only command 3rd fleet as apposed to other "Commands".

It's also weird how sometimes (like in the mission "Slaying Ravana") where the briefer says "Good luck, pilot" as if he's just talking to one person. I was under the impression that everybody was briefed at once...
Fun while it lasted.

Then bitter.

Could be like spaceballs where there's 2 way view screens everywhere.
Every pilot's goal is to rise up in the ranks and go beyond their purpose to a place of command on a very big ship. Like the colossus; to baseball bat everyone.

Re: Interesting issues. (A bit humorouse)
Iirc, when you start out, the briefing is given to you as part of a squadron by your Squad leader (Lt Cordova? Can't remember). Later on, you are briefed in person by your superior, one would assume you would then, as Squad leader, be expected to brief your own team.

Re: Interesting issues. (A bit humorouse)
That's only in the last few missions, though.

Aye. You get your own squadron when you return from your vacation to the Psamtik. Until that point, you're always a part of the squadron. And there are these moments when the squadron leaders, sometimes even literally, seem to address Alpha 1 personally.

Re: Interesting issues. (A bit humorouse)
Yeah, there's canon evidence supporting that. In Dunkerque, when you're evacuating 3rd Fleet HQ, Command speaks from both the installation and from an "unknown source" (#Command)... ;7

Yea, I was wondering about that too. Because see, even when you get attached to the Vasudans, its still Mr Noname Black talking to you. I'd expect a Vasudan to be talking to you. It does seem like he's stalking you, doesn't it?

Creepy...

Re: Interesting issues. (A bit humorouse)
The Psamtik (or however it`s spelled) is part of the 3rd Fleet, too, which is why our special friend is still in command the Vasudan parts instead of some Headzhunter.

Maybe the higher authorities thought that Alpha 1 would become mentally quite unstable in a completely unfamiliar environment. So they sent the black guy too, so that there'd be at least one familiar face.

Re: Interesting issues. (A bit humorouse)
Then, I figured when you hit Squadron Leader, Petrach would address you directly.

Unstable ? They sent Alpha 1 up against a Juggy, made him sneak along the Juggy's skin, and they think that won't make him unstable?

Don't you think the Vasudans would get a little anoyed if they knew that one of their battle groups was going to be comanded by a terran for the sake of one pilot? They could see the whole officer exchange program as a way to just sneak terran influences into vasudan culture.

Re: Interesting issues. (A bit humorouse)
i honestly think that theres always several 'flight controllers/advisers' for each squadron, that also directed cap ships in area... but that doesn't explain what's up with that black guy, i'm just saying what i thought 'command' always was.
Sig nuked! New one coming soon!
