Where that website where you can download fs2 discs - fsoinstaller pointlessnes?
I want to find that website. I know it's somewhere around here. It was just one page, and had 3 download links for the iso's. I'm going to have to not use the timing out installer (nuff said there).

Y yes lobo that gets me fs2 instantaneously. THANK YOU

That explains why the fso installer got gay and pointless all of a sudden. Seriously, now the only thing that the fsoinstaller can do is install mods. Most people do this manually for a specific reason. Because the fsoinstaller has only a handful of mods up for download. The one reason why the fsoinstaller was great was simply because of the fact that it let you get fs2 up and going in a much easier fashion compared to usual.

Fsoinstaller = now pointless (i can't download blueplanet or ghost revenants with it...ie i can't download the mods i want with it in the least)
hlpbb community = now reverting to the old ways b4 the fsoinstaller existed. Torrenting, p2p, direct downloads to get a hold of fs2 and manually setting up their own fs2 scp compilation file by file (something the fsoinstaller temporarily cured).

While you guys are at it, get rid of the freespace port from the fsoinstaller. Including the download for freespace 1 in the fsoinstaller while excluding the download for freespace 2 is obviously hypocritical. OK so all around the community the download of freespace 2 is now considered illegal, but not of the freespace port which makes use of a good deal of the original content from freespace 1.

While we're at it, how about we take down the HOTU version of the game as well?

You guys no what i'm going to be doing to get fs2, and i don't even got to say it.

Not instantaneous, but
- (from what I've heard) cheap
- legal
- it works.

That explains why the fso installer got gay and pointless all of a sudden. Seriously, now the only thing that the fsoinstaller can do is install mods.
I fail to see how not downloading full games is "gay" all of a sudden. Besides, the FSO Installer still lives up to its name: it installs FSO (you know, the improved, open source version of the FS2 game engine) and certain respected mods.

Fsoinstaller = now pointless (i can't download blueplanet or ghost revenants with it...ie i can't download the mods i want with it in the least)
Still don't know why BP isn't included, but to be honest, Ghost Revenants hasn't yet won the trust of HLP members. Apparently.

While you guys are at it, get rid of the freespace port from the fsoinstaller. But here's where the legal side gets interesting.

FSPort =! FreeSpace 1. FSPort is simply a mod for FS2, which happens to port the FS1 campaign (and Silent Threat campaign) and FS1 ships to FS2. Therefore it totally isn't FS1, on which numerous members would agree.

There will no longer be any evil and illegal downloading here.

If HotU distributes FS2, that's their problem. They can burn in Hell/whichever unpleasant after-death place for that severe crime.

Re: Where that website where you can download fs2 discs - fsoinstaller pointlessnes?
The FSO installer doesn't install BluePlanet or Ghost Revenants cause no one connected with those mods bothered to get off their arses and figure out how.

As for the rest of the petulant whining, if you don't like it, install it manually as you say. I'm glad I don't have to deal with the constant problems we had when everybody was trying to do that though.

Re: Where that website where you can download fs2 discs - fsoinstaller pointlessnes?
I'll be one less problem to deal with since i know how to set up the scp on my own. The fsoinstaller should like be some kind of different mirror to freespacemods.net since this is all the installer handles now with the exception of freespace 1.

I fail to see how not downloading full games is "gay" all of a sudden. Besides, the FSO Installer still lives up to its name: it installs FSO (you know, the improved, open source version of the FS2 game engine) and certain respected mods.
I will rephrase and just say retarded instead.

But here's where the legal side gets interesting.

The fsport utilizes original freespace 1 and silent threat content. You could also argue that freespace 2 isn't freespace 2 because everyone uses the fso executables for freespace 2 content. So why isn't the freespace 2 content up for download anymore (excluding V's freespace 2 executables)?

Ghost Revenants was a one man show any how. And I can tell you he didn't expect it to be this popular.

Re: Where that website where you can download fs2 discs - fsoinstaller pointlessnes?
Ghost revenants was the only other mod i could toss in there because i couldn't think of any other mods at the time. It looks interesting because the dude pretty much made the whole entire mod himself. The only thing that needed to be done was some play testing.

If you need a beta access key, I'd even be willing to give mine up.  I think some other members have one as well.  So, all you need to do is ask and you can have FS2 for $6, and download it whenever you like.

Re: Where that website where you can download fs2 discs - fsoinstaller pointless
Karajorma already said the same thing, but I'll chime in so we have a two-admin consensus.

The FSO installer's original purpose was for installing FSO, hence its name.  Turey then added mod capability.  Subsequently, it was tentatively decided to add FS2 retail install capability "just because we could", essentially.  And now, after a fair about of discussion between the veteran members of the community (plus one specific observation that forced our hand), it was decided to remove FS2 retail install capability.

You shouldn't have taken the retail install for granted.  That's like a little kid, whose mom makes him dinner every night, throwing a tantrum because she won't feed him hand-to-mouth.  Please note, nothing has actually been removed from the internet.  Things are now just a little bit harder than they were before.

And this really doesn't even begin to address the main issue, which is that FS2 IS AVAILABLE FOR SALE AGAIN.  So support the game companies by buying a copy.  If they see that the game is financially viable, they may decide to resurrect it.

Without the legally gray area of the FS2 retail install to hold us back, we are now free to promote the fsoinstaller as what it excels at: something to help you manage mods.  If <insert your favorite mod here> isn't included, then petition the mod designer to include it.  It's not hard.

Re: Where that website where you can download fs2 discs - fsoinstaller pointlessnes?
OK, but now we still have the fsport up for download which utilizes just about as much original game content as fs2 did. If fs2 is illegal to download then i still see fsport up for download, then i know something highly inconsistent happened.
