What do GTVA pilots do all day?

I'm writing a fanfic, and I need to know what my characters should be doing while they're on duty and not flying. I'm specifcally interested in what todays navy and air force pilots do while they're on duty and not flying, so that I can adapt that to FS, but any general FS ideas would be welcome.

So far I've guessed they'd spend at least some time on ship guarding duty, and some in the simulator, maybe some physical training, but I'd really like some more specific ideas.

They just sit at the local bar and get drunk on Bosch Beer when they're not flying... :D

Kinda makes you think... maybe that was his master plan all along!

The whole NTF thing was just a diversion while he slowly accustomized the GTVA pilots to the sweet, soft, full taste of Bosch Beer.
