Special moments of FS2?

Probably cracking open the databanks and seeing the dearth of backstory and technical info that had been put in there, i think i sat for half an hour reading all that stuff. 

The first time i put Subach fire into an Amazon in a TSM and went "holy crap its venting fire from the hits?! Awesome"

My first bunch of fred missions involving having two teams of ten Fenris cruisers have a beamless furball.  Quite literally they would loop around and dogfight while pumping fusion mortar and blob rounds into each other.

The thing I liked about ITLD was that you went through the second Ancients Knossos, only to find another Knossos. The Shivans had managed to wipe out a civilization quite possibly much farther along than the GTVA, and that you really were screwed without a miracle. The 17 Sathanas Juggernauts helped that feeling a tiny bit, too, I suppose.

Me too although the radar will track beyond visual range on that mission, i felt safer both for myself and the corvettes if i parked between them. Gosh i remember seeing my first AAA too coming off the NTF cruiser. That ripped me in half because i was playing on hard. I thought my FreeSpace 1 experience would count for something

Which campaign are you talking about ? I don't remember anything like this from my playing experience

The Sath uses SReds or something weak like that in Monster in the Mist I believe.

First off, Transend, from the mission before you fleeinto the nebula until the end.
Derelect: The narylphotep (is that how you spell it?) jumps in in from of us, when it warps in near the riot, and when it escapes. Oh, and where you have to protect the Governor (thats Derelict right?)
Cardinal spear: Plasma cannon ftw! Neutron flux is fun too.
Ghost Revenants: You can't tell me you don't love 69 kills in a mission! I looove those fighters.
Freespace: Decent: The Lucifer's various rampages
Freespace2: I though i was cool so i played mission 2 on insane on my second day. Dead in 7 seconds.  A Lion at the door, The Great Hunt, and Slaying Ravana (Why do you think I made videos of them?) First mission in an interceptor. SOC (I call it sock) missions. In the lions den (DIVE DIVE DIVE!!!) And the last 3 missions

And a general one, the first time i got between a capital ship and its target......holy crap.
