Question for you lot. Should people who own Art Galleries here at HLP have avatars (which will link to their galleries)? The avatar will be a global one which I design, and will be awarded to all people who have art galleries. Opinions?

I personally think yes. Some of the art galleries on HLP are so huge and quality-rich - as well as requiring a lot of effort to create - that I think they deserve recognition. Avatars would be an appropriate avenue to award people, methinks.

IMO, I'd say once they get to 15-20 renders they get an avatar. There are some art galleries that have 5 or so images in them...there are some people who have made that many and don't have a gallery.
The main reason to make their avatar-ness based on their number of renders? Because it encourages them to make more renders, of course!

I voted no but only because I got struck with an idea a while ago and whilst I'm not sure if it could be implemented it might clean up the avatars a lot whilst also being kinda cool...

Ah yes... that's more leaning towards negative punishment than positive reinforcement (I know it's not true NP, but it is when compared to just giving them as they come). So, then, what about people who make really really big renders (CB2, for example, or a couple of RoachKoach's pics)? If they've only done five but that counts for 25, is that fair?

Turnsky, it's for people who own a gallery. Whether or not you render is a moot point. If you've got the gallery, you'll have the avatar.

If you own a gallery thats not on HLP then I don't think so - then it could be argued that we should give Icefire an avatar for BWO although he's not hosted here, all the modellers avatars to say they model but not here... it'd get crazy.

Well, I originally thought about that but never posted that because it would probably turn into a big if-then statement

Basically, I'd say that as long as the renders are worth it, toss 'em an avatar

It's getting to the point where everyone has an avatar, though, lol.
