Damn it...I was going to throw in an audition for one or two of the main roles myself (though I could really do anything you guys needed and felt like I was good enough for), but I completely forgot about it this week.  I'll see if I can get something in over the next few days.

I strongly suggest going to external sites to hunt for roles. It worked wonders for ST:R and BP.

Ransom told me the same, and I'm going to get it done soon. I've also yet to submit my own voice for consideration, so I'm going to do that as well.

Okay, auditions sent.  Hopefully something in there works for you guys.  I wasn't sure exactly what you wanted for the Vasudan template, so I kind of went for the sort of almost-monotone that's used in the retail voice files.

At their present state, your lines will do fine, Dekker. When we know what we want you to do, we'll let you know what role you landed.

And as a blanket update, Mongoose's line AND my own have been sent to Ransom. Still waiting for his verdict on them, but even with that, we've still got a large cast list to fill. If we had a different person playing every minor role, we'd have forty-two voiceactors. And so far, I believe we only have a quarter of that.

UPDATE:

I've had null success trying to get response for the main and significant roles at Voice123. I've had little luck finding Battuta or Goober5000 on the IRC, so I've been unable to ask them how they were able to get such stunning feedback for their projects. If you two are reading this, could you give some tips on how to make the V123 projects the right way? Because I know that, if I did this right, I'd be getting at least a few results from the site.

In lieu of this situation, I've added the Voice Acting Club to the sites I've put out the call towards. That makes it a grand total of three sites: The HLP, the VAA, and the VAC. If I find out how to break open the potential of V123, I'll have four sites to turn to for voiceactors, and I probably can spend more time reviewing the talent themselves than finding more outlets to draw talent from.

Now, this last paragraph is important, so listen up. We've gotten about eight voiceactors so far to try for these roles, and I think it's about high time that me and Ransom made our final decisions on some of them. I'll try and get not only ideal roles for the voiceactors, but also some backup roles in case their intended role gets filled in by someone else. With forty-two separate roles (including all of the minors), I'm sure we'll find a way to fit everyone in somewhere.

So V123's smart search option is a total lie? That's interesting. How many actors did you have to go through before you found the people you needed for the main roles? The prospect of going up to every one of them and asking them to do something for free doesn't sound like it'll go over well to people who get a cool hundred per minute for a business commercial.

As I've said before, look at the Silent Threat: Reborn voice credits. Those people were willing to work for free and will, presumably, continue to do so.

There may have been a few other differences:

1) The economy was much better in the first half of 2008.  People may have been willing to work pro bono then while being less willing now.
2) ST:R had a website, a forum, and promotional stuff (images, plus a WIP trailer).  You might want to consider supplying this for Transcend.
3) ST:R might have been better known than Transcend.  I can't say for sure, but I can say that the original Silent Threat was fairly widely publicized.

On the other hand, Blue Planet also suffered from some of these but still managed to cast a few V123 people.  So, maybe you should hunt around on the VAA forums for that list of voice producer tips.

Blue Planet has managed its success largely by being really, really nice. Our best actors have, in fact, been bringing their comparably talented friends to us, taking care of a large chunk of casting for us. V123 and Goob's recommendations have been wonderful.

When we finally have enough voice talent to start assigning actors to various roles, we'll change the names to green and specify the taken roles. For now, every role is still entirely available.
