While many quote FS2 and non canon, I will point out to the FS1 intro, although its not just one line

Every time I hear that, I image the comand guy flipping off the mic and squealing to himself 'I always wanted to do that!'

Recently I had gotten to thinking that this was intended as a bit of a double-entendre; that Command was going to let him escape, but that the fighters were going to attack the base/Iceni enough to make them think Command was actually trying.

But then I played the mission again and noticed the order the lines are spoken doesn't quite work that way. If they were said in a slightly different order, though, that might make sense.
