I'd just like to say a few things, mainly to pecenipicek.
Firstly, my server is not in any way official to HLP.
I started it to play with friends, and as qazx, who is a real life friend of many years mentioned some people in this community would like a place to play together, I agreed to let him advertise it here.
I have never coerced players into my server over any others, implied my server is better than any others, or said to people at any point if they play on any others I won't let them play on mine.
I never implied that you coerced anyone, nor implied anything. Most of my "anger" in this thread is directed at qazwsx's complete ignoring of some valid suggestions to how you could fix your server stability problems.
I'll admit, some of my posts were a bit bitter, and i apologise for that.
As for not letting people play on my server, that only applies to AlexHeartnet and Marcov.
In case of Alex, for being a completely ignorant fool who ignored whatever we said to him, or asked him to do or not to do.
In case of Marcov, for being a total and complete bastard in general on these forums. I simply didnt want to expose my girlfriend and her sister to his misogynist antics, or to his racism.
Everybody else is welcome as far as i'm concerned. Hell, we've got a ton of stuff waiting for anyone curious enough to explore or anything else.
People know your server(pecenipicek's) is there and another equally good server.
However, when I have to sort a hosting problem out that is not my fault, on the penultimate day before what was arguably the most important exam of my entire life, and I find you seem to find this is the best time to quote my post to advertise your server did make me feel a bit sad.
My quip there was that i could host the server for you either temporarily or that we could join the worlds in the server. When i saw that message, i joined the irc channel and asked qaz, "It seems you have problems with your MC server", or something to that effect. He immediately responded afterwards that its been sorted out, blah blah. Fine. I logged off and edited my message on the forum.
Running the server costs both of us, and the more players I have on my server the higher tier I will need to accommodate these players, thus meaning I have to pay more.
To clear out some things here, my server is on a spare pc i have here, and realistically, i dont pay anything extra for it, as it doubles as a local server for some other things for my "work". (the only upgrade it might get is another 2 gigs of ram, but thats another matter) Initially, i put on the server for me and my girlfriend to play on, later on, i invited Kyad over to play as well. Then a few others joined, including my gf's sister (who's proven to be the most prodigious builder around).
Later, we also merged in some parts from kyad's server, where he made his castle with one of his friends.
Now, i've been trying the whole time to get the server ready for more people, i cleaned up the whole PC, set up everything on my router to be able to accept a larger number of players at the same time.
People will choose which server they want to play on by playing on them and deciding which one they want to put time into, not as much by readings others posts on them.
No argument there, but guess whose server is the most mentioned
So please qazx can you put pecenipicek's server IP in the first post so it's totally fair, and just let people make their own mind up rather than pecenipicek or me saying "his server is crap play on mine".
No need. qaz made his opinions towards our server quite apparent after one of his visits to it.
Or rather, he completely ignored it after the first visit.
I don't wish to start a flamewar, just saying there's no need to be abrasive towards my server when it comes up for discussion.
Neither do i.
My bitterness mainly comes from a few facts.
Due to legal matters here in Croatia, i am not allowed to use paypal until i own a credit card, and i cannot own a credit card since i'm unemployed (and it appears i will stay that way for a looong while too.)
What this means is that i cannot pay for minecraft, even tho i want to. Which means i need to run the server in "offline" mode, meaning anyone can come and take any nickname. To prevent that i set up a simple mod for taking care of authentification of users. On your first visit with a particular username, you are asked to register, and on any subsequent login, you're required to log in to verify its you.
Kyad was very enthusiastic initially about the whole deal, and helped out a bit with stuff.
To prevent any griefing, i installed a permissions mod, and disabled block/entity interaction for any user not put into a group of users approved to build.
(And no, the whole server thing doesnt bring me any profits at all)
And now, suddenly, Kyad got the game from Shade iirc? Guess where he hopped off to immediately?
So yes, i'm a bit bitter overall.
Not on you rhx123 tho, nor on your server.
Also it seems i lost any point i might have had, except being bitter at a few people overall. Meh.
My server stays open for anyone without the legal game, and will stay that way, as long as i'll be running it. I however, will not help anyone acquire the game illegaly. If anyone who owns the game wishes to play with us, feel free, the only difference you folks will have is custom skins and the lack of that annoying disclaimer that pops up for us after a few minutes of playing.
I will not discriminate against anyone, as long as nobody starts destroying stuff on my server.
