So, my current main server just went through a major overhaul, as the old admin team got tired and retired their server. Some other players, including myself, took it upon ourselves to rebuild the server, and I have just realized that our new admin/supervisor crew is full of mad scientists. Allow me to share with you our latest catastrophic event.
We use FalseBook, a mod that allows signs to perform complex redstone functions, and to do a few other crazy things, like shoot arrow barrages. One of our supervisors took the arrow barrage IC and tied 8 of them to a pulsar. If you have no idea what a pulsar is, it's a set of redundant redstone torches where two oscillate well past burnout speed, but once one does burn out, another takes over and keeps the system going until that one recovers. Effectively, the system never stops, and attains a clock rate much faster than any normal RS clock. As you can imagine, this spammed arrows like none other. It spammed so many arrows that just logging on near his base caused the server to crash. We tried desperately for over an hour to approach his base and remove the machine, but it was a veritably impregnable lag fortress. If you could see the arrows, it was too late for you. All seemed hopeless.
Until we hatched a daring plan. In a multi-pronged attack, we removed the FalseBook plugin and attempted to spam our /remove arrow command to make insertion into his base safe. We lost several men in the process, until one of our admins was able to acquire distance just enough that they didn't cause a crash, yet could still remove the arrows. Then, the ground team struck. Once inside, the machine was swiftly and decisively destroyed, allowing normal operation to resume.
All in all, that weapon created over 67,000 arrows before it was destroyed, and had a fire rate (probably much) greater than 1000 arrows per second.
