As per this thread I have been working on getting this bad boy in-game.

Purty model by the talented BrotherBryon! I've finally gotten it mapped and begun the texturing process. Granted there isn't a WHOLE lot to show yet... but you know.. several weeks of UV mapping and you might also feel the need to show off something. (Even if you can't really see much).

Obviously this will need a crapton more detail, but I have the base colors applied which is a milestone in it's own right!

There was a cargo container somewhere being HTLd, but I haven't seen anything in a while and I have no idea where the WIP model is. (Note: I didn't bother to forum search before typing this. Chances are it might be easy to find.)

It's a shame, really - this ship cries out for submodel animation of some sort, IMO, but there's no real way to do it with the positions of the turrets and engines and such. :(

Bit early to comment on the texs yet, but I'll be following this with great interest - love the Poseidon :)

I'm definitely excited to see how this evolves! Your UV looks good (judging by the other shot you showed me.) so I am sure the texture will follow suit. I think this big model rush can be credited to the influx of modelers. Sab0o, the return of BrotherByron, MjnMxael, and Hades. Also the INF teams sudden helping hand has been great. Great work everyone.
I think I'll call REAL Mahjong 'Chinese Dominoes', just to make people think I'm an ignorant asshat.

While the texturing might have something to do with it, the model itself feels...bulbous, in a way the original didn't.

I don't agree. I think this one capture's the original's feel pretty closely.

The head was longer in the original, and the arms don't taper out of the engines as before, but by and large, I'm not seeing how it's any more bulbous. I mean, the original isn't at all slim. It looks chubbier if anything. Also, this is definitely one of the retail models where boxiness really didn't seem to be a design decision, and where the upgrade's curviness seems well appropriated.

Cool, This was actually my first attempt at upgrading a retail model and I've learned a lot since but still nice to see it revived and in capable hands. I remember really struggling with the design of the head and the front part of the engine pods but I think the end product struck the proper balance between being boxy and curvy.

ION3 made it and sent it to me so I could possibly make some modifications to the foot pads to accommodate his docking clamps (Made them but never did post it as I never heard about the container again after that), not sure if he worked on it any further but I still have the blender file he sent me if some one needs it. Should probably try to contact him first for permission though.

Overall, I like it. Maybe some believe curves are a tad too curvy, but stepping back, the Poseidon feel is there in my opinion. Lets not forget this model is too far advanced to even consider making any changes such as curves and what not.
