ok here the latest version - its not finished - still got turbo lasers to add then all the turrets - its also abit high poly count at the moment

as for the polys and verts - its not been reduced to get it to work in truespace i just hit trianglate so its very hihg at the moment - but should be able to bring it down alot - anyway it currently sitting at 660 verts and 1224 polys thats made up from afew subobjects - like i said thats far to high for what it is - but until i get 3ds3 installed i cant be bothered to acaully go work out where all the unflat faces are manually and fix it

The cortex and brim textures still look a bit stretched, but much better!

i have done the ISD textures to my own statisfaction now - there are people out there who can do it better than me but i thik this is good enough - so unless this meets with overwhelming resistance this is what the finshed modelw ill look like except with turrets and probally afe wminor changes to make it freespace happy.

   

   

its lower poly count although i cant give an exact number yet as i haven't finished making it ready for freespace and it also is a more detailed mesh - mostly thats seen in the command tower and the new turbo laser battries

one other thing - since i'm now happy with the main model i should have it released soon i'm only going to do 2 lods since i cant be bother doing more

Your two renders are great- they both could use some antialiasing though. (Sorry, had to get that Art Critic thing in there somehow.  )

dont worry about the art critic bit - dragon claw was telling me off for putting the planet nearl in eclipse but i thought it looked better being able to see abit of its surface and since i dont pretend to be a "artist" or to be good at renders and stuff its no big deal

I'm not sure if this is worth trying to fix, but something about the geometry of the models doesn't look quite right. In the movies the main hull of the ISD is a more pronounced diamond shape instead of being fairly flat across the top and bottom. Depending on how your mesh is put together this might not even be hard to change.
Which is not to dis on your model, its verra verra cool =)

Yah, I was going to mention that too...  

If I had my way, I would have a sunrise/planet thing with just a crescent barely visible, but you're right, you wouldn't have been able to see the surface. And it's a nice surface.

i dont know - its not overly visable from those angles but the hull is diamond shaped - i will inestigate - should be to hard to correct tho - at the moment its still mae up of sub object and if i rmember correctly the main hull section isn't attached to the rest yet although it would put the angles out for the other bits   but again no biggy -  hmm

Just watched Return of the Jedi on video as well... amazing how well the SFX stands out (the stuff not put in newly for the special edition).

and has anyone noticed that the medical frigate in the end battle is a hella lot like the Hippocrates without the bottom 'bar'?

an ssd   hmmmmm would be cool but it would need at least 200 turrets and 100 is a pain in the ***  for this thing - but would tryly kick ***  to have the SSD

Count yourself lucky, my model crashes FS after i add over 2 turrets  

NB:  Closer to 2000 turrets would be required methinks

no way - the colosus only has about 80 i think 100 is alot trust me even with forty top side flying vobe the mid line is asking for serious punishment lining shots is near impossible - only other cap ships should try and take it on - so 200 would be plenty

1.6 kilometers, or something similar. An SSD is 17.6 km, 11 times as long as an ISD.

Oh, and an ISD only has 60 turrets.
