This is the 4th time in one month i needed to reinstall XP ! 10 min ago i get a fatal system error, because it couldn't load the logon screen. tryed every posible way to get into XP but nothing works. And i have everything to protect my pc from weird internet ****. No power cuts, i always shutdown the damn thing as it should. ! In my opinion XP is as screwed as a big pile of dog crap !...So i am switching to win2k. I work whit it at work and on this old pc from my mom ( thats also the one where i am posting this topic whit ) and it works perfectly.

For me WinXP is over going to play frisbee whit the damn ****ed CD !!.

Sucky problem, have you sought out help on why the problem is occuring? Could it be heat from the system or anything like that?

(just stabs in the dark, I know nothing of XP)...

Sounds like you have a CPU cooling problem most likely. Either that or maybe you have to update your win XP. Goto the MS update site and update your comp. Or possibly your drivers; many hardware components need specific drivers designed for XP.

But most likely, it is from heat. I used to have a problem with win98 on my P233 ... the CPU fan died... Causing login errors, causing the computer to crash within 15 minutes, etc...

I checked it software wise and hardware wise...mainly the cooling.

My cpu stay's around 22/27 Celscius. and also a fan that covers 80% of my vidcard. It's weird as it all worked fine yesterday, no virus stuff all drives defraged no other errors. So i am in the dark about what the problem could be.

And the worst thing is that i lost allot of my B5 episodes and movies:sigh:. I am not very happy. And win2k is it for me it's stable, works fast better performence etc.

Just a tip: Remove your memory cards and clean the connectors with an eraser or a clean piece of cloth, reconnect them and try again. The problem might be that the connectors are oxidating (sp?), causing problems when you try to read and write to the memory. Had that a while ago, took me a while to find out the problem.
Probably away. Contact through email.

For all of the thousands of problems you seem to be having....I have none.  My computer has never before been so stable as under Windows XP.  Why I haven't had a crash since I started running it.  I'm shocked and amazed at that....never under any other OS was I able to be so stable.

Your problems have been quickly blamed on the OS.  Maybe its something else...I'm just suggesting not to come to conclusions.

Did you ever try Win2K?

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

you sound annoyingly like Ten of Twelve. Sure, blame it all on the OS.

of course, I'm only saying this because, my XP won't run that well, so I have to settle with the crash-happy Win98

w2k has specifik drivers, as well. XP/2k has the WHQL driver certification thing. Certified drivers should work without  problem.
