...but suffice to say, they have to be made sometimes, because you guys should know what's going on with your fellow members.
Basically, I just finished my first quarter of college, managing to tough it out with a 3.5 GPA at the end. (Yay for that.) That said, that's really the only good thing about things right now.
I just made it home, and while performing routine maintenance on my gaming PC which hadn't been touched since I left for school, I found that it won't boot. Nothing. No fans spinning up (but the lights on the motherboard are functional). There's a high pitched noise coming from the case somewhere. The problem exists either in the motherboard or the power supply, and I honestly can't tell which. I'll have to take it up to the nearest repair shop to get it taken care of, because I don't have the equipment to test the problem or narrow it down myself. A little bummed about that, suffice to say, but I also don't have the time to deal with the problem right now, as I just returned home from school.
In addition to that, after arriving home as late as I did, I didn't manage to make it over to my girlfriend of over a year's house, because of my parents not wanting me out late. ("It's a school night for her!" etc.) She's a little irritated about this, and thus, not exactly keen on talking to me on the phone right now. A little bummed about that, but that's still not what's got me down the most. I love her, and I know we'll sort this out easily tomorrow. Not a major problem.
The main problem is that I may have developed a condition called heart arrhythmia, which is essentially where the heartbeat goes out of sync at relatively unpredictable intervals (as for what it feels like, it's as if the top half of my heart is contracting at a rate asynchronous to the bottom half, and each of these palpitations lasts a few seconds each). This is accompanied by occasional chest pain or discomfort consistent with the palpitations. According to multiple google searches on my part to find the source of the problem, heightened stress (check), caffeine intake (check--finals week just ended, so lots of late nights), exhaustion (check--see aforementioned reason), lack of food (check on some occasions), and dehydration (check on some occasions) can be causes. If they happen a lot, it could be a sign of a more serious condition, and I'll have to consult a doctor about it. Since it didn't crop up until recently, I'm not sure if it's just due to my... turbulent life situation right now of transitioning from home to college and back again, but it could be something else, and there's a slim (but existant) chance that it could be something more serious. This frightens me quite a bit, needless to say.
It could be a number of things, but it didn't start happening until the first day I started using a bicycle to transport myself more quickly around campus, and when I returned home, after resting for an hour or two (too tired to really drink anything) on the computer, I felt a strange sensation in my chest that felt as if my heart was seizing up at a rate somewhat consistent with my normal heartbeat--if anything, it was like suddenly becoming aware of your heartbeat as if someone were squeezing it within your chest at the rate it normally pumps. Hard to describe, but it scared the **** out of me, because I had never felt it before. It's done this occasionally ever since (albeit not nearly as intense), triggered occasionally by drinking coffee, anxiety, lack of sleep, and hunger.
Basically, I'm scared I might have a heart conditions (and they run in the family, btw), and I'm scheduling an appointment tomorrow (technically today since its 1 AM) to have it checked and diagnosed.
Also, I just came out of finals week at school, which means I'm currently very, very tired after working my ass off to keep my grades where they need to be.
Anyways, I feel like this should shed some light on why I've been either nonexistant on the forums or short-fused or just downright stupid. I'll keep you guys updated, and I'm so sorry.
