Re: Saitek X-52 vs Logitech G940
So I got the X-52, and I am very, very happy with it. First, I worried that it might be a waste since I have not been into flight sims lately. Then this thing comes along and pushes me into flight sims.

I have been having no problems wiht the stick atm, the controls feel rather good for me. I like how the X-52 requires even force troughout (my old Thrustmaster did not have this, having some sort of indent at 50%). I am liking all the buttons. I dislike the "Indents" on the throttle, as they do not add all that much.

I am currently having some problems with the driver though. The profiler has the tendency to crash the MFD and subsequently the profiler itself, if you give any command in the profiler a name longer then 16 characters (the MFD displays the name of the command assigned to each button when you press it, but if it can't display the name, it crashes. This is probably a limitiation that does not occur on the later models, thus it's a compatability issue). No longer a problem since I figured that out, although it did case a day of frustration.
Also, when plyaing FS2, the joystick has a sudden and very weird tendency to think that my joystick is not centered whilst it actually is. I am currently digging into this problem. I am not sure if itis a FS2 thing or a driver thing.

Overall, I am rather impressed with the design, although the drivers could use some work. For 100 euros, I am a very happy bear.

Have you try it without the Saitek Driver and Profiling Software ?

The stick works fine (at least for FS2) with the generic Windows driver.

Yeah, googled and shizzle, apperently the centering problem is a problem with the auto calibriation within the driver, which is a bit of a shame, really. The hardware is awesome, the software is not all that much.
Still happy though :P.

If the stick is suddenly uncentered during gameplay, try rotating the stick through all its extremes, and then letting it go back to center.  I have a Saitek Cyborg Evo myself, and doing that activates its auto-calibration and sets things right.  I'm not sure if that's the exact problem you're having, though.

I run an X-52 Pro (without software or additional drivers other than what Windows 7 uses) and it's been just fine for several years.

That worked. Thank you Mongoose :).
