Re: Steam Autumn & Christmas Sales
For the X-COM players - is it worth playing the base game without Enemy Within beforehand, or is Enemy Within an upgrade that meshes well for a first-time player?  Currently toying with the idea of buying Enemy Within; I already have the base game.

Enemy Within is a fantastic addition regardless of experience level.

HOWEVER, I'd suggest playing it on a lower difficulty to begin with, at the very least, because EW makes panic among nations rise much faster than the base game (or so it seemed to me), so you have much less room for error, strategically speaking.  Tactically speaking it's much superior in just about every fashion (except Sectopods.  **** them).

Hrmmm.  I see I can pick up all XCOM DLC for a $17.97.  I have not yet played the game at all.  Worth it to pick up the DLC and have it all from the get-go?

Re: Steam Autumn & Christmas Sales
Yes, very much. Enemy Within is basically the same campaign as the original game, only better. So it is pointless to first play the original game and then DLC, as you get to experience them both on same playthrough.

The flash sale that ends in little more than five hours includes all the DLC, I recommend you get them all. 75% of off them all except Enemy Within which is 50% off is good deal.

Re: Steam Autumn & Christmas Sales
Hm, I can only buy Enemy Unknown for 9.99€, but without Enemy Within...hope this will pop up soon:)

Re: Steam Autumn & Christmas Sales
Since EU is on flash sale, I think EW fell along with it, just only 50% off. So I figured that since a new game is probably not going any cheaper than 50%.

So I bought it, and Deus Ex:HR Director's Cut, so now that's two things to replay!

Heyo everyone.  How does Strike Suit Zero (and it's "meaner" cousin SS Infinity) compare to the FreeSpace series?  I've heard there a lot of similarities, buuuuuuut I thought I'd ask you guys.

Looks pretty cool in a "Macross meets Homeworld" sort of way.

There's a thread about it, though I don't know if there's any comparison made to Freespace.

Re: Steam Autumn & Christmas Sales
Tomb Raider is 80% off at $10, who can resist that?

Dragon Age is also hella off, and I picked the Ultimate Edition for $7.50

Re: Steam Autumn & Christmas Sales
Hellllllp! I've been selling off trading cards that I don't want, so I now have $13.37 in my Steam Wallet but I can't spend any of it because then it wouldn't be L33t anymore...

Anyway: Brothers, Gunpoint, WG: AirLand Battle, Super Hexagon, L4D2, Far Cry 3, A Virus Named Tom. Probably a few others, too.

Say goodbye to your life.  I spent months playing that game.  Steam says 194 hours and I think it underestimated :/

Ironically, I couldn't disagree more. I just got really sick of it for some reason very early in the story and I've never felt a flicker of an impulse to go back.

My sister has been sending me screenshots of Dragonborn for Skyrim, however, and I'm really getting that urge to sink another hundred hours into Morrowind.

So Far, i've picked up The Witcher 1 and 2, Godus and Skyrim Legendary Edition.

I may have screwed up my Dawnguard questline and i cannot be arsed to start the whole game over, i already have my nifty Crossbow and plenty of ammo(and the knowledge to make ammo!).

Re: Steam Autumn & Christmas Sales
Quite happily bought some little games here and there, my favourite is currently Long Live the Queen.

:/ Ok, I really just couldn't decide on what to buy. Picked up Kinetic Void and Bully. Passed over X-Com for some stupid reason (think it was wallet related) and I am going to really regret that over the next few months.

Look into using console commands to reset the quest itself, or to progress to the next state. I got stuck on another quest with the mage's college, and I just hacked it through to the next bit.

I've just finished The Witcher 1 the second time, this time on hard. :) An interesting experience, really had to put those potions to good use, especially early on. Though at higher levels it's still kind of easy.

And Natural Selection 2 is a staggering 90% off. For $2.50, I suggest all of you try it out.

Re: Steam Autumn & Christmas Sales
Speaking of, VVVVVV is all of 50 cents right now.  If you don't buy that or already own it, you're insane.

Here's a bit of sale weirdness: Just Cause 2 is 80% off today, and even though it can't run on my current OS, I finally caved and bought it because I apparently hate having money.  There were several little random DLC items at about the same discount, so I tacked those on too since it was like a buck total.  However, all of those DLC items are also bundled together...yet the bundle has just a 50% discount, so you'd pay more that way.  That's some math fail on someone's part. :D
