North korea has drones!!!

Not the greatest article, but i sourced it for the pictures and the video it has.


Severely primitive for any legitimate military power to call a drone. But, NK possibly can. These are rocket boosted into the air at high speed, and then essentially become prop driven toy airplanes. Well, i'll just call them prop driven toy airplanes. It is supposed that they can be piloted remotely, they can house some decent explosives in them, and apparently some surveillance technology (currently just a camera) can be equipped.

What's great about these drones? I like it for how beautifully simplistic they are for otherwise making cheapo cruise missiles, and taking pictures. Now, what north korea needs to demonstrate is if they can be used for surveillance. What'd really help with that is if a surveilling drone could return to base.

On how interesting this is for incorporating "drones" via toy airplanes into a military is quite fascinating. However, it doesn't say too much about north korea. They have nukes and toy airplanes. How you go from nukes to toy airplanes is weird.

Yea but if you're above it looking down you'll see a blue dot on land. Unless this is designed to look at targets over water or something.

People on the ground will have a hard time spotting these flying around looking up from the ground on a clear blue sky day.

I'm a little confused, I'd expect a plane that makes reconnaissance to be painted blue/light blue on it's underside so it can be harder to detect against the sky (provided it does during daytime). Am I asuming wrong?

Having a two tone camo scheme such as the one applied to the example is pretty pointless when the aircraft is 5x4 floor tiles big.

I dunno, I asked the same thing a bit ago and the answer was apparently "Nazis". (I'm just teasing of course) But yea seems kinda pointless to me. Do we have drones that are painted a similar color?

The paint job might not be very good for evading detection, but it's pretty great if you think of it as being disguised as a hopeless RC enthusiast's labor of love.

The real problem will be making the team of five terrified North Korean drone operators following it around on bicycles inconspicuous. I'd pay to see that movie.
