LONDON (September 7, 2002 6:21 p.m. EDT) - Extremist Muslim clerics will meet in London on Sept. 11 to celebrate the anniversary of the attacks on the United States and to launch an organization for Islamic militants, an organizer of the conference said Saturday.
Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed of Al-Muhajiroun, a radical group that supports making Britain an Islamic state, said the conference will argue that the terror attacks were justified because Muslims must defend themselves against armed aggression.

The event at Finsbury Park mosque in north London, "Sept. 11, 2001: A Towering Day in History," will also mark the launch the Islamic Council of Britain.

Why the heck can't everyone be nice to each other, and leave each other the fork alone.  I firmly believe that the US foreign policy is to blame for pissing everyone off.  If they just got their nose out of everyone elses buisness, the world could be a better place.  I can't believe that any group anywhere can justify terrorism.  It can't be done.  They should round them up at that conference and toss them in jail for trying.  I am really sick offf some of the carp this world creates.  I normally say leave that country of yours, come to Canada, but if that PM of ours agrees to help Bush attack Saddam, then I just be right pissed off.  They created that mess, now they have to deal with it.  The world is just to Forked up for me.  I'll be on the first ship out.

Well, to some people 11/9 is worth celebrating... it was a strike at the huge evil corporate america, and a good strike at it too.  It's they're beleifs so i suppose they have the right to feel however they want about it.  People celebrate VJ (i think) day, for victory over japan in WWII, muslims can celebrate too...

Yeah, i know some people here like to open-minded and stuff, but this is too far, these kind of people should be deported to Yemen. 9/11 was a totally unjustified attack against innocent civilians en masse, Bin laden carried out this attack because we liberated Kuwait.

EDIT: I think we need to tone down on these kind of topics, such as the Yugoslavia one and a few other politically minded ones. They are becomming to heated.

   So what part of working in a skyscraper living the dream equates to 'armed aggression'???

  If they (the terrorists) want to defend themselves then (for once) I hypotheticly think that if the IRA truly wants peace then those radicals at the park should come under fire (and justify their death wishes)... Afterward materials used would mysteriously appear at police stations (thereby using that guns for amnesty thing Blair tried ealier, i think)... Thereby peace can come once more to the citizens of that shining Isle...  man that sounds beautiful huh? Now if only that would happen here in the US for Klan demonstrations....

It should be said, in all fairness, that a lot of Muslim leaders in the UK have condemned this pamphlet as spreading hate an aggression (and soforth).

Still, I'm all for freedom of speech and all, but this stuff should be banned forthright.

I think they should be allowed to say whatever they want as long as they don't actually do anything. Since their ideas are not exactly popular in the nation, mere vocal threats from them would be of no importance.

they are calling for the destruction of the government - they're calling for the Uk to be made an Islamic state.  That is impossible in a democratic, predominantly Christian country such as ours through 'legal' means...they are also advocating the forcing of religious belief and laws upon people who are not, nor wish to be, muslim.  they are also advocating terrorist acts - murder - against people who are in a country which happens to be percieved to be their enemy... remember that many of the 11/9 (or 9/11 in non-Uk date format, to be precise) Twin Towers victims were foreign nationals, not born in the USA.

Put it this way - what would happen if a European Christian fundamentalist group went to Saudi Arabia to campaign to overthrow the government  in favour of an enforced Christian state?
