the [img] tag simply makes an image url show up as an image instead of an url on the forums, the lvlshot tag does the same thing but also makes it fit the forum so there's no stretching.

No, beam fade doesn't help. It only appears when the target is out of range (or near maximum range), and then it makes the beam look like a silly laser sword.

This is why you make the impact explosion BIGGER.

Or have individualized beam impacts that have an appropriate colored corona that blends nicely with the beam's gradient.

time dilation definitely doesn't require www.freespace2.com... It's not even an easter egg, it's a feature.

It does if you want player controlled "bullet time" (time scale <1) without SEXPs.
