Here my launcher command lines :
Quote
-ambient_factor 100 -no_emissive_light -fov 0.72 -ogl_spec 90 -spec_exp 5 -spec_point 1.6 -spec_static 1.25 -spec_tube 1.5 -post_process -bloom_intensity 70 -fxaa_preset 9 -mipmap

And here, the post_processing.tbl for the TrueColor mode. It's damn pretty for certains scenes/ships. With Freespace 2 main campagn, it looks so colorfull it kills your eyes in a bad way and it's very darky (I didn't notice when I increase saturation, the image become darker, but with the missing FLAG_BRIGHTNESS it's a little better. I mean, it's not so dark).

Here the full content of the Post_processing.tbl for TrueColor Mode:

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Here some others shots comparing True Color and a Desaturated one, both running on the same Freespace 2 mission. But with a less saturation and some brithgness, the TrueColor mode can give something beautiful on main Freespace 2's campaign.

Desaturated mode :

582,668 polygons of in-game gloriousness. No turrets nor collision mesh nor decals yet, so this is bound to increase.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
GTX 460, i5 760, 12GB RAM. Doesn't even run the SC hangar smoothly, so that should give you an idea. FSO can handle serious punishment and then some.

(For comparison, this thing is 2.85 HTL Saths, or 6.25 Solarises, counting only LOD0 and their subobjects. And it's about 55m long, so that's between an Ursa and a Poseidon.)

Re: A celebration of Freespace
CryEngine doesn't give a **** about polycount. Fortunately for Roberts Consolidated Vaporware or whatever they're called, CE3 is a really good engine that performs well and looks good even on low-end systems.

The ship will be in hangar, viewed from first person, close perspective, so that kind of detail is needed.

Does the 580K polys include the interior?

It was originally 1.5M

CryEngine doesn't give a **** about polycount.
From what I can see, neither does FSO.

...why the hell is Star Citizen dumping 500k polys into a bomber-sized ship? :wtf:
Because they can. Why wouldn't they? Polies are cheap.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
SC's art style goes for clean-looking tilemaps on modelled geometry. A lot of the stuff the UVMappers here would stick on a texture goes in SC's geometry.

It's partly the fact that they're building their game for the future - the seemingly huge amount of detail has been used as a selling point - and partly so they can get high texel density. FS ships get pretty blurry once you get really up close, and this wouldn't happen as much in SC. (it's necessary since the ships are setpieces not only in a space sim but also an FPS)
